The Secret is Out

I have been keeping a little secret from y'all. I was getting ready to tell y'all either this week or next before this secret came out. Problem is it is already out. I found it in my mailbox on Friday.
So what is this secret? Well, let me just tell you it all started when I received an email on February 8. I was having my morning coffee and was going through my emails and this is what I saw.

Master Bedroom Magazine Feature?

Yep, that is what I first saw in my junk mail. Thank goodness I always look at my junk mail since most of my mail goes there. I read the email and had to read it again. I couldn't believe it. A freelance magazine writer and editor, Rebecca Razo, was scouting for an article to do in the June issue of Cottages and Bungalows. She had seen my master bedroom post and thought it would be a perfect fit for the before and afters issue.

I emailed her back as fast as I could. Of course I was interested. Are you kidding? This was a dream come true. Who doesn't want to be in a magazine? So we talked on the phone and everything was a go for the master bedroom, so we thought. Then I get another phone call a few days later and Rebecca is apologizing and telling me that her editor decided to change up the way the issue was going and my bedroom was not going to work out. Talk about a let down. She told me though that they may use it another time. So I thought okay if it happens it happens and if it doesn't it doesn't.

Then she contacted me again the end of February and said that they wanted to feature my powder room instead of the bedroom. She said her editor loved it and it would be perfect. I said are you sure this time and she said definitely.

Now, let me just say that I was hoping for a full blown magazine shoot, but they are low budget and they wanted to use my photos. I thought mine? I'm not a professional. She said as long as they were high resolution they could use them. So I was the photographer. Hey, you do what you have to do. I don't know why they gave my photos an aged look, but I sent them clear bright shots.

 They actually did four pages. I was very surprised about that.

To see my name in a magazine is surreal.

Rebecca did a breakdown of what we did and the money we saved doing the work ourselves and using mostly what we already had.

When I saw this in the mailbox on Friday I couldn't believe the June issue was out this early. I figured it would be another couple of weeks.

So now you know my little secret. Oh, and another blogger most of you know has one of her before and afters in this magazine right after mine. So go grab you a copy.
