Ticking and Toile

4.15.2012

While we are still on the subject of pillows I know y'all are thinking oh, please can we move on to something else I thought I would show you the one find I picked up at the new to me antique store the other day. I love ticking, especially vintage ticking, and I love toile.

This pillow is the best of both worlds. One side is vintage ticking.

Flip it and this beautiful toile is on the other side.

This pillow doesn't have a pillow form in it it is stuffed the old fashioned way with feathers. Here are a couple that were coming through the fabric.

It is a wee bit dirty and stained in places, but that is okay. I may try to spot clean it later.

For now I have it with the ticking side facing and my other pillow made from vintage fabric beside it.

These three are on the other side for now. I am still waiting on two pillows that I ordered from Joss & Main several weeks ago. I didn't realize that they wouldn't be shipped till this week so it won't be long and then I will have to change things around again.

Here it is with the toile side again. Just can't decide.  I love the casual look of the mismatched pillows though.

The cost of my new vintage ticking and toile pillow was $15 marked down from $35.
That was a bargain that I just couldn't pass up.

I will be changing out the plates above the sofa soon. Found a few at the antique mall and have one coming in from ebay.

Hope your weekend is going great!

  8. Kim- Have you ever tried that dry cleaner stuff that you use in your dryer? I can't think of the name of it. But you can pre-treat the areas that are stained and then throw it in with the stuff that comes in the kit. I have done pillows with it and I put them inside a bigger pillow case and secure it (just to keep the feathers a little more contained). It works great...and I LOVE LOVE this pillow! xo Diana

  10. Love your pillow. I am partial to the ticking side. I picked up a great old feather bolster with blue ticking at the Nashville flea market last summer. Actually, I took it out of the back of the vendors truck because he wasn't unloading it quickly enough. :)

  41. I need a week off just to make all new pillows to replace the worn and faded pillows in our house. Or maybe I'll just wait. I have a feeling you may be starting up an etsy site to sell your excess pillows. I have my faves picked out already. :@
