Yes, a New Chair

4.02.2012

Well, y'all are just too smart. I gave you a couple of sneak peeks at what my new pillow was sitting on and several of you said I got a new chair. Yep, can't slip one by y'all. I loved the look of the kuboo chairs I had in the sun room, but they really are not made to sit and lounge in very long. Well, I do lounge in the chairs in this room and eventually on the sofa so I ordered a new chair. Only problem you really don't know what you are getting on line sometimes.

I was browsing Overstock.com and saw this. Love the button tufted back and the nail head trim and it was on a day when shipping was just one dollar. Can't beat that for a chair.

See that nice big full and fluffy looking cushion. Well, looks can certainly be deceiving. It is quite firm. I read the reviews on it and some people said it is firm, but that it got better after sitting on it a few times. We will see. It is more comfortable than the koobu chairs, but not a squishy curl up with a book kind of chair. Does look good though.

To lighten up the look of the room for the warmer seasons (already having summer temps here) I removed the tablecloth off the bamboo table.

I was sitting in my firm new chair and was looking at the items on the table and decided to remove the red candle that was on this candle holder and add the coral instead. I love how it looks behind the glass.

In place of the coral, that was on this stand, I added this vintage cola bottle that I picked up for six dollars.

Now the vignette is a little more summery with just a couple of changes.

I moved this old wicker chair to the other side of the table in place of the other kuboo chair.
This chair has moved all over the house and was on the deck last summer.
I painted over the bright white with Annie Sloan chalk paint in old white and country gray and see I need to get the top of the leg braces underneath.

I do love that the new chair is wide enough so Bailey can sit beside me. She likes to be close.

For now the sofa looks like this with the new plaid pillows added. I just flipped the burlap pillows from Pottery Barn around to the solid side. I am slowly adding more blue to this room. I am waiting on two pillows that have the blues and reds on them to take place of the burlap ones. I also want to find some different plates to hang on the wall in place of the fruit plates.

Soon I will show you where the koobu chairs ended up and some more changes in here.

Happy Monday

  6. That chair is terrific looking. I could bring my fat behinder over and park it there for a while to soften it up. The chair that is, not my behinder.

I think the color is great in there- I can't quite tell if it is a light, pale blue or grey.

The whole room is looking fresher and brighter for Spring. Hope you have a great Monday. I suppose MrSavvy is still home and needs some tending...well, enjoy your day anyway- xo Diana

  35. I'm guessing I missed something since I haven't had time to check out your blog lately. Isn't this the room where you used to have a red sofa? Did you slipcover it, move it, or am I off? Okay, don't answer that last part. It is all lovely and I am amazed at your great find on Overstock. That chair is GORGEOUS!! You did good. Thanks also for the tip on your headboard from Home Decorators Collection. I went there looking at the one you got, but ended up ordering the Martha Stewart Ingrid bed instead. It was regularly $999, and I got it on a special deal for less than $400. Now I am just hoping the truck can make it down the private road at the ranch and over the wee little bridge. :)

  51. You are not going to believe this but I was looking at that chair on Overstock this morning! I love the way it looks. I saw it in two different colors. But I was just not sure on the cush factor. It will be replacing my hubby's chair so I want it to be comfortable for him. I may just have to take him to a store to try them out. But I do love the way that one looks!

  56. I like the new chair and will be waiting to see how you like it. I am on the lookout for a chair and ottoman like the one in my hotel room when J was in hospital. That was either the most comfortable chair I have ever sat in or I was just too tired to care.LOL Anyway...I am looking and hoping to find one. When I do, it will go in the hearth room.

    Great shots all around, Kim!

  59. Love the new chair and I love Overstock as well. The changes look great. The coral on the candlestick is neat, I may steal that idea.
I am puting up four plates on my etsy store today. You may be interested. They were sold by Williams Sonoma in the late eighties. The artwork is by the late French artist Andre Renoux and depict various resturants in Paris. I will try to get the listing up today.

  60. Another great find! The color is so pretty and I love the tufting and nail head trim too. Not sure what you can do about the comfort issue. I love to have something to put my feet up on, for total comfort! Not sure how much sitting you're doing lately, though!

  63. It's gorgeous and I do love the button tufting. I need some button tufting ;) The color is lovely. Such a soft, pale grey, nice and neutral too.

  65. Love the chair... and the pillow!

  66. The chair does look great and your room is beautiful. That was brave ordering it without seeing it. I haven't tried that with furniture. I'm slouchy when I'm reading or watching television. I know I'd feel better if I sat up straight, but I'm either sideways in my chair with my legs over the arm (I think I'm still 16)or slumped down with my feet on the ottoman. I have leather sofas and they look great, but not enough squish for me for very long. Now your couch...looks like one I wouldn't want to get off of!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Wonderful looking chair. I have ordered several things from Overstock and have been VERY pleased. Since you are a mega-DIYer, replace the cushion with something more "cushy". Joann's Craft stores have 40% to 50% off coupons on a regular basis. A new foam inner cushion wrapped in lots of poly batting can really make a difference.

Also, try adding a foot stool. It's amazing how much more comfy a chair or couch can be when you have a place to put your feet.

Love how you styled the chairside table.
