The Cows are Home

5.07.2012

I am sure y'all have been wondering where the cow hangings ended up since I took them out of the breakfast room. I ended up putting them on about the only wall I had for them to go on. The stair landing is usually a forgotten space, but I have made a little spot to sit and browse magazines if I am too tired to walk up the stairs. lol. I ordered a new light to put in this area and I know I have a before picture of the old fixture somewhere, but cannot find it.

As you can see I placed my Ballard's bench that was in the dining room here in place of the blue gray one I moved to the sun room. Domino effect here, people. In fact the light fixture that was here moved to a different spot, but the wall around it has to be painted.

This is the view from the great room. I just adore my new light that Mr. Savvy hung for me.

I ordered this light from Lighting Showplace last week and had it in a few days. It was less than $75.

I bought the vintage style light bulb at Home Depot. Had to have this for the right look.

I love the cow hangings here.

I placed this huge burlap bolster on the bench.

Placed the dough bowl under the bench and filled it with favorite magazines.

Don't forget about the stair landing if you have room for a sitting area or just a little table and lamp. I don't have an outlet here for a lamp so did the bench instead.

Have a super week!
I have miss Leila today and Thursday and I'm getting ready for the other grands' visit next weekend.

  2. Last week was one of those weeks when a bench on the landing would be great. Have a little bench going upstairs, but none going downstairs. Still busy working on the house. I think we are getting to the age where we need benches all over the house.LOL

I love how your bench looks on the landing and the light fixture is perfect with the cows. There are similar lights in J's lodge bathroom. They are actually exterior lights, but were just the look I was going for, in that room.

Great idea using the dough bowl for magazines.

  49. I just love this space. We no longer have stairs (other than to the basement) or a landing, but I used to love to decorate ours in a past house. I even put a Christmas tree there during the holidays. I miss that staircase.

  51. Beautiful, Kim! I love that light (and the bulb!) and the cow prints look just right there. I agree about not forgetting to utilize a landing -- I have a tiny landing, but I managed to put a small (1.5' x 2.5') bookcase there!
