Dear Pottery Barn,

5.26.2012

Yes, I must write you another letter. You know how much I love you. You entice me with your catalog that pops up in my mailbox rather often. Then there are the emails from you in my inbox, too, just full of yumminess. You know that normally I don't buy anything from you at full price unless I just can't live without it and am afraid it will be sold out if I wait. So I wait for sales. But then I have a double whammy. Your outlet store is only thirty miles from me. It is a nice little drive up towards the north Georgia mountains. I just get in my comfy car, turn on the radio to enjoy some music and then before I know it I am standing in candyland your store.
This week you had exceptionally nice things that kept trying to jump in my cart. Yep, that's right. There are carts in the outlet store, but not in your regular store because you know that things will surely come home with me.

Lamps are like a drug to me and I have wanted this one since I saw it in your catalog a few months ago, but it was catalog only and not in the store. Well, guess what? It was in the outlet store this week!

This lamp is like a great big heavy piece of ironstone and you know I love ironstone so of course I wanted this. I love how you distressed it in places, too.

The price tag for just the base said it was regularly priced at $150, but the outlet price was $99. So I stood there and thought about it for a few minutes seconds and in my cart it leaped. Actually more like I huffed and puffed to lift this off the shelf and into the cart. This lamp must weigh forty pounds.

It did not come with a shade so as I strolled around I came upon this linen look large shade and tried it out with the lamp and thought they went together like two peas in a pod. Then I checked the price and the regular store price was $59, but the outlet price was $19. Thanks for such a super mark down.

As I was strolling along with my cart on the way to check out I see this basket. It is a very large basket and just perfect for holding my books or I could put some throws in there in the winter months.

Baskets are so versatile and I have admired these from afar in the store, but just wasn't willing to pay the original price of $79. Oh, but this one wasn't $79. No way Jose. The outlet price on this Shayne basket was 38.97. But wait! That price was slashed through in red with a new price of.........wait for it...............
$19.97. Yep, you saved me $60 big ones on this basket and I truly appreciate it.

I decided to place it under the bench in the sunroom for now. Great for extra storage since I am running out of places for my books.

Now PB, can I call you PB? I don't want you to think that was all that came home with me because there was a couple more things. I just wanted to write and thank you for having some great buys this week. Sometimes it is a hit or miss. The cart came in real handy this time.

Thank you so much,

P B Aholic

  3. Oooh, an outlet that close to me would be so dangerous! I love how they have carts there, because if you're in the outlet, you are going to buy, and buy some big things too!

  4. Gosh, I wish I lived closer to shop at the outlet store and take advantage of that sale. I may just have to take a weekend and drive that way. I love your lamp. The entire vignette is beautiful. Great buy on the basket too. Glad you got to find so many great things.

  8. What a fun post Kim and your lamp is adorable...the shade too. I know what you mean about loving lamps...I buy them all the time...in pairs. Everytime I come home with a set my hubby is always like..."Now where is that bgoing to go?" Sometimes, like today at TJ Maxx, I'll just stroll through the lamp section turning on all of the different lamps to see what they look like lit. I know I must look like a nut!
But kudos to you for your great deals today. Wow I wish we had a PB outlet near me. But then I would have no money to buy any food!
    Have a great holiday weekend!

  14. Wow! You did get some good things! I love your new lamp the best. It is gorgeous. I still think it should've come with a shade for that price though. Love the shade you found for it. Your basket fits perfectly under your bench. You can never have too many of those! I should take a trip to the outlet mall some time. I always forget about it.

  19. You are too lucky to have this outlet somewhat near your house. Such great finds. I'm sure my hubby would divorce me if I lived anywhere near Dawsonville. Love that lamp.

  21. Some stores have sneaky merchandise like that, don't they - just hop right in your cart and insist on coming home. It's tough on the pocketbook, but nice on your eyes when you get them home. Love your new lamp and basket - they found themselves a good home.

  22. Don't you just love it when items jump into your cart? I can't believe the deals you got. Wish we had an outlet here. The shade is just perfect for that base.

  30. This is Melissa@daisymaebelle.com. I LOVE lamps!!! I can live without a collection of shoes or purses, but I do have a fondness for lamps. There is just something so warm and welcoming about a lamp. My girls know that when company is coming, they are to turn on all of the lamps. My husband just laughs when I bring home another one!

  34. I think PB should hire you as an ad consultant! Love your lamp and the shade fits it perfectly- style wise and size wise. I have never seen a PB outlet! Good thing most likely- xo Diana

    ReplyDelete
  35. No PB outlets in my neck of the woods. Good thing, because I don't need another store addiction. I agree with Diana, you could be a spokesperson for them. Maybe an add on your sidebar? I got a kick out of this post and I LOVE the lamp!

  41. Oh Kim...I am a PB junkie too...just hook up an IV full of PB goodness and I am happy...!...When wanting something "full price"..I feel a bit better as I use my PB card that gives you a 10% back in rewards...then if you buy it after you attend one of their classes, you get another 10% off...as I stated before, my hubby was shocked when I walked into the store and they greet me by my name...ha!....

That lamp is awesome...I have been losing after that one too!!!...I rarely order thru the net..hate the shipping charges...my PB outlet is 2 /12 hours away...but maybe I can talk him into a day trip this weekend!....Love going to "your outlet" when I am in the area!!...Love, love your purchases...I can tell it just made your day!!!

  44. Dear Pottery Barn,
I must write you my own letter after my friend Kim scored goodies that I love at your outlet. Please open an outlet within 30 minutes of me. That would be closer than even your regular store and I promise to bring my friends Benjamin and Ulysses.
