Summer Vibe

I am playing the picture switcheroo game again. It all started with a new frame that I ordered for my cow print in the great room (coming in a post soon). The frame I was using for it was originally bought for my lighthouse watercolor. The watercolor has be nekkid for quite some time so I am sure it was glad to be back with its frame again. Only problem is the color was brown and yucky with a brown mat and I wanted it all light in bright so out the chalk paints came.

Yes, I paint small things in the kitchen. I painted the frame with ASCP in Greek Blue.

As you can see the mat went from ugly brown to a bright green. I just painted the mat with ASCP in Antibes. It is such a pretty green and it goes so well with the painting.

After the blue paint was dry I took a damp rag and rubbed some of it back off to get this worn look. No sanding needed and so easy to do.

I love this painting because I used to live on St. Simons Island, Ga. when I was in 1st thru 3rd grades. I use to visit this building in front of the lighthouse and it is still there today.

Placed this extra large shell on the back of the john.

I replaced the church painting that was in here for now. This look has more of a summer vibe don't you think?

Summer is definitely here now. It is hot and is across most of the country.

Stay cool and have a fabulous weekend!

Well, I had to come to Atlanta Bread co. to have an internet connection. I am down at home till some time this weekend. I guess that little black cloud is back over me. UGH!
6-23. Still no internet so I am visiting at my daughter's and using hers.
I hope to be able to visit and leave comments soon.

I would've never thought to paint the mat in a picture. It turned out great! I can see that color combo looking good in your bathroom.

I paint things in the kitchen too! Love the blue against the green with the sweet painting and the shell really works with it too! I had a black cloud over my head the other day too.

You are so clever! I'd never have thought of painting the mat - but why not?

What a fantastic painting. We too are collectors of watercolor. Rob started painting with watercolor a few years ago and has turned out some good pieces. Nothing to the extent of your work, but still frameable. Thanks - Tonya

I remember that painting and I love the colors you chose for the frame and mat...that pop of green is great! I do like it in the bathroom for the summer....who wants to go to church in summer anyway? (did I say that?;>) xo Diana

Of course you know I LOVE this! The painting is fabulous…I'm jealous you can just re-paint your mat! I spent 1 hour and 25 minutes in the framing store yesterday for my Live Oak prints from Savannah plus items for my shop! Miserable! I'm not a detailed person so that kind of thing pretty much does me in! LOL! Your painting is truly beautiful and I'd give my right arm to be back in Hilton Head OR St. Simons right now!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!! Thanks for your sweet comments!

It is very summery with the blue and green! Looks great! I can't put anything on the back of our new toilets. The buttons are on the top!

Looks gorgeous Kim. I have a collection of Stephen Morath prints which I have had for gosh, some almost 20 yrs now (eek!) I still love them but hate the mats and dark frames. You have inspired me to paint them...thanks!

You gave the painting new life, and it looks great.

Your painting brought back memories for me. We used to visit St. Simon's Island when I was a small child. I loved shell hunting there.♥

I so hate it when my internet is down. I fell like the whole world is going on around me, and Im not included. Love your darling print and my favorite ASCP color is Antibes Green, so I was excited to see you use it.

Kim, I'm so sorry to hear about your car and all your other troubles! Glad you had such a good time meeting up with the other bloggers though. I love the picture, newly painted frame, and that punch of color provided by the painted mat...beautiful!

I hope that little black cloud blows far away and that you have sunny skies all weekend!

I like how the frame is painted blue and the green mat.

What is going on with the internet! So far I am back in business but you never know, that is for sure.

I saw your car photo.:-(

Such a pretty picture and even better that you have a childhood connection to the location. It looks great there. Internet outages can be so frustrating.

That's a beautiful little print & your newly painted frame looks perfect.

Ouch on your "finder-binder!" I had a similar experience a couple of years ago. I was stopped for a few minutes in front of a friend's house (on the correct side of the street), & an older gentleman backed his big pickup right into my door. I didn't have time to undo my seat belt or move out of the way. All I saw was this massive truck back bumper coming right at me. I thought I was going to be crushed. Thank goodness he had full-coverage insurance!

Black cloud go away, give Kim a bright new "internet-filled" day!
