My Home Tour

I love looking at other people's homes. My home doesn't stay the same for very long since I am always changing things ups a bit. Here are a few pictures of our home. Some are new and some I pulled from past posts so not all these rooms look exactly like this now. I told you I change things a lot.

For a little history about our house. Mr. Savvy and I designed and built it in 1995 doing much of the work ourselves while working full time jobs. This was the only way we could afford this house. We lived in our first ranch style house for twenty years. We moved in this house six months after starting construction. Many things have been changed over the years. The wood flooring was installed several years ago and we had the kitchen updated, too. All the colors in the house and outside have changed of course along with the ever revolving decor. The Tennessee field stone on the outside was added a few years ago. That was a huge change. The roof was a greenish gray when we built, but had to be replaced over a year ago after having hail damage so I switched to a brown to go better with the colors in the rock. Also the garage doors were a standard white door and we switched to the custom carriage house style doors.

Crepe myrtles in bloom in the summer.

Come on in!

To the left is the sitting room in an equestrian hunt theme.

I still love this horse sign that I bought from Ethan Allen when it went on sale.

Antique French vaisselier replaced the bookcase.

Across from the sitting room is the dining room with a mix of French Country furniture and the hutch I painted.

summer

winter

Right off the foyer is the great room or I should say left off.

The breakfast room is to the right of the great room. Mr. Savvy just recently added the beadboard wallpaper and trim and I painted it. I love this change.

Now let's visit the heart of our home. This is the view when we come in from our garage.

We had our kitchen updated a few years ago. When we built our house I had a totally white kitchen except the walls were wallpapered. We had white cabinets, white counters and white linoleum flooring. Yes, it was bright and white because our first house had a dark galley style kitchen so I went complete opposite on this one.

A few years ago we had new door and drawer fronts made and then painted on site by professionals. We then added giallo ornamental granite and we installed the tumbled marble backsplash ourselves.

You walk through the breakfast room to the sun room. we added on ourselves several years ago. (Summer look 2012)

This is where I spend most of my time blogging and watching tv.

Fall 2012

The laundry room was updated this year and it makes it so much nicer to do laundry in.

Let's venture over to the other side of the first floor to the master bedroom. This is the most recent update.

winter

New French style mirror.

The powder room which was recently renovated and featured in Cottages and Bungalows magazine is between the sitting room and the master bedroom in a little hallway that runs between the sitting room and great room.

Let's go upstairs to see the guest rooms.

This is one of the guest rooms done in a nautical style using a mix of vintage and new. The framed Navy shirt over the bed was Mr. Savvy"s.

Guest room makeover May 2013

This is the other guest room on the front of the house. I am always changing out the bedding. I just can't help myself when I spy some new pretty bedding like this from the PB outlet. You can see more of this room here.

Well, I think that about covers everything except the bonus room which is off limits. It would make your eyes hurt so I won't do that to you.

Your home is always such a joy to see, Kim. It is so WELCOMING and beautifully done! Joe and I did MOST of the interior work on this house too, when we built it so it is bittersweet to be leaving it after 28 years! However, I just realized, our new home is laid out very similiarly to yours, but on a smaller scale! I can't wait to show you all. They did dig the hole so we are on our way! Enjoy your Sunday. We are off to T and D's again to help install the garage door opener. XO, Pinky

I've been visiting your blog almost weekly and linking up and this is the first time I have discovered your home tour. Your house is beautiful, you have some lovely design ideas and have created a gorgeous home to live in. What lucky guests to come and stay, I think my favourite guest bedroom would be the one with the white sleighbed and checked red curtains.

My favourite room is your blue sunroom its just delightful and I could easily sit there all day blogging too.

From the outside, your home would surely leave a great impression! With very good landscaping and paint color combination, this is an eye-catcher! And the well-maintained roofing is one of the stand-outs, too! The same can be said for the interior. It takes a lot of hardwork, and savings to have and keep a home like yours, Kim! Congrats and cheers! :)

Omg...how fabulous that home tour was! We have so much in common in terms of our likenesses. I was much attracted to the drapes in your home...always loved that fabric in the dining room. Curious about your red/white buffalo check in the guest bedroom. I selected one where the white is very tea-stained in color. I am looking for a cleaner check...do mind sharing where you got yours or the brand or name? I love the rock on the front...added rock to a concrete wall in our backyard a couple of summers ago and redid our kitchen in cream white with a black island and similar granite. I love your backsplash...wish I could say the same about mine...also tumbled marle, but a very different look and not feeling the coordination of color. Once sealed it looked different. Anyways, thank you for sharing and I'll be sure to stop by regularly. Found you thru a pin on pinterest!

like to see how others live and how they decorate,
cause you get some great ideas like that......
even if you just take away one think you can incorporate.
I am in search of ideas to redo now that the Christmas stuff is about down. My friend gave
me a terrarium for christmas and I love it but am trying to decide what to put in it other than plants of course!! lol

Take Care and Thanks for giving us a peek at your house, loved it!
