I ordered a can of Pure White chalk paint from my sponsor and when it came I couldn't wait to use it.
I painted two coats of paint on and started to do a third, but realized that wasn't necessary since I wanted to sand some back off to heavily distress it.
I love how the details came out with the paint.
Have to show you the headboard without the bedding in the way.
I love the Pure White. Two coats of paint, some sanding and then a coat of clear wax and done.
This took me a couple of days of stop and start painting and finishing.
This is what the bed looked like before. It is cherry no more.
Stay tuned for the way this room looks now.

I was going to say, I want to see what it looks like all finished! Guess i will have to wait. I am not a big fan of painting wood, but I think I might like this one.
Totally get it. I painted several dark wood pieces we inherited. Love, lover the new look of the bed. That's a lot of detail for a rooms to go bed. Great job!!
i can't wait to see what it looks like! it is VERY similar to our bed, only ours is a very light colored wood to begin with!
Elegant (as always)!
You are a painting machine, Kim! It looks amazing! I can't wait to see the whole room now!

Girl - you are a painting machine. I love the change, but I"m not sure I would have been brave enough to paint over the wood. Good for you as it does give the room a whole new look.
You TEASE!!!!!
Well let's just say you have us all excited at the intrigue - looks awesome already, whoo hoo.
Wow,what a big difference! I love the white....can't wait to see the whole room :o)

in this room. You did a great
job on the bed... I'm so over
dark wood.

Great job Kim !
I always like your painted furniture and this is no exception. Do you ever get any resistance from Mr Savvy?

Wow, what a difference that must make in the room, Kim! I can't wait to see what it looks like now.
Let me know when you run out of things to paint...cause I am sure I can find a few things....don't want you to be bored or anything like that :)
Of course it goes without saying that I LOVE it!!!
Kim,
Great transformation! Can't wait to see all the changes you made to your guest room.I love that color. It is the choice I used for my kitchen cabinets.

I'm eyeing up the nightstands. I'm guessing there was a whole lot of painting going on! Love the framed sailor jacket!
Can't wait to see a full pic, so far I'm loving the white:)
Kim: I love the new look. Wood is beautiful but sometimes the darkness can be overwhelming. This is looking good and can't wait to see the whole room done..Happy Friday..Judy
You are really skilled with the distressing I can't wait to see the bed all dressed. I recently read about waxing before you distress, they said it avoids lots of the mess that you get with Chalk Paint. Have you tried this technique?
It looks amazing! I think I'm becoming a chalk paint junkie. I kinda love it.
I love it too. I keep trying to figure out what ASCP color to use on a craigslist hutch I purchased and now, seeing the pure white, I FINALLY made my decision. Thank you for sharing Kim. I don't know where you find the time to do all you do and Blog about it to.....but I am glad you do.

I know I am going to love it!
I so love it with the cottage white new look!!! You did a fantastic job! Excellent makeover :)
Drats! Why is it that everyone else has such good luck with chalk paint but me? :( waaagh It is beautiful, and yes I love how all of the details now come to life. Its the perfect amount of distresing too, and this look plays so much better with your nautical styled-room. Good job, Missy. :)
xxoo
I just love that Pure White! Looks great. Did you do the bedside table as well?
Oh I love it, Kim! I think that bed was made to be white. I would love to be rid of our cherry set too, but I'm a chicken. lol

The bed looks wonderful- what I can see of it, you tease! ;) Can't wait to see the full reveal.
I did a bed just like this with regular latex paint for my friend. It was a nightmare and wish I would have used chalk paint!
Well I have to say I like it, but you have more *goforit* than me! I sit and look at the smallest things afraid to make a change. I think my way is called being in a rut.
~Bliss~
Beautiful Kim. I love it!

This will be a huge change! I love pure white from ASCP!
I have a couple of really good pieces of mahogany that I would love to paint, but it would ruin it's value.
I am thinking of painting the cherry dresser and chest of drawers in my master bedroom... they were, like your, not heirloom quality. But our bed... mahogany... and too expensive to change!
I really love the peek you have given us, but then again... I love everything you do! You are always SPOT ON!
Cant wait to see pictures. Kim, please share how you have so much energy....I wish I had half of your energy. You get so much done!
Looks wonderful, Kim. The white looks great with the nautical accents.
I love the white with the distressing, it looks great!
Blessings, Grace
That pure white is perfect with the nautical theme you have in ths room. I love the DETAIL on the bed! Can't wait to see the whole room.

I have a dresser and a cabinet begging to go from wood to color. You inspire me to stop relaxing and get to work.
What a cliffhanger! I wanted to see the whole room! I'm thinking that you painted the bedside table red! Can't wait to see the rest because your beds are always beautifully dressed.
It looks great, Kim! The distressing is the icing on the cake, for sure! Look forward to seeing your "new" room!

Oh, this looks fantastic! I think the white is really nice for your room especially with the nautical look. Now, don't tell me the nautical look has been changed. ;-)
Kim....looks fantastic...glad you gave that bed a "day at the spa"..the ultimate chemical face peel which resulted in a glowing and youthful look!
You can turn the "plain jane" into the glamour shot gal!!....So looking forward to the big reveal of the room...Love the "new" bed!
I love painted wood. So pretty
