I found this vintage fishing (?) basket (that is what the tag said) at Scott's last month for a much better price than most I have seen so I snatched it. I knew it was the right size to use next to the chair and ottoman in the master bedroom. When there is nothing on t.v. worth watching I can come in here, put my legs up and look at books and magazines. We don't have a t.v. in our master.
The basket is the perfect height to use as a side table for my favorite reading materials.
Here is a look at it without the accessories.
The buckle is broken, but that's okay. I like to be able to open easily if I ever need to grab a stored throw.
I have been enjoying this new book by my favorite designer, Charles Faudree.
A comfy chair,
some pretty flowers,
After all, isn't that what our bedroom is for?
The basket was only $65 where as most were hundreds. I love when I hold out for a much better price and then strike gold.
Have a super week!

What a great find Kim, and it looks perfect in your bedroom! You have to love when something is useful AND beautiful, and that basket is both! We had a tiny break from the heat too, fingers crossed it stays around for awhile.

We had lower temps and humidity here in Alabama, too! I love your new basket.
Very Cozy and beautiful spot to study that wonderful book. I LOVE those baskets and have a few myself. I have a small one that I use a ribbon instead of the buckle strap.
I LOVE your arrangement. Charles would be proud of you!
Big Hugs,
Donna
We have gotten up to 109 YIKES!!! And let me tell you that does not go well with Pregnancy :) So your cozy chair is looking mighty inviting. Your basket is beautiful but I am REALLY liking that pillow on your chair. Have a great rest of the day.

What a great spot to sit and catch up on some reading, Kim. It looks really comfy!
Looks like a perfect spot to relax, read a book or chat up a friend on the phone. Love the look of baskets they make a room or spot seem so cozy.
It's perfecto in that spot! I have a weakness for baskets, your pretty one does double duty as a side table so it's as useful as it is beautiful.
I hope you'll link it up to Cowgirl Up! tonight..
Hugs

So pretty Kim!!
That basket (or trunk) is great beside your chair. Looks like a perfect fit. I didn't know that Charles Faudree had a new book. It has such a beautiful cover. I'll have to check it out some time.
Perfect basket for that spot! I love it!
Great find! What a cute and cozy corner for reading!
Hi Kimmie! Oh, what a wonderful basket! It's so large too. Looks like a beautiful place to sit and flip through books!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I am sooooo loving this weather. It is amazing. It was wetter than usual, but I got some great projects completed. LOVE your wicker basket. When I first started reading this post I was thinking t was going to be a smaller wicker creel. LOL What a great storage piece too. I have gotta get on Amazon and order that book. I don't have his last two editions. Have a great week. xxoo
Can't see that as a fishing basket. I do love it, however.
And the cozy readin spot? Perfect.
So pretty and I love that ruffled pillow!!
Love your wicker basket. It doesn't look like a typical creel though...but it IS very cool AND a good size. I didn't realize Faudree had another book out. Where have I been? The whole area looks calm and peaceful- xo Diana
Great basket, Kim. Love the idea of using it as a side stand.

a perfect reading corner! We don't have a tv in our room either and I wouldn't have it any other way =)
That is a fabulous basket and I love how you've used it. Perfect for hiding books and magazines too! I always seem to have a pile in our room. :-)
I had one just like it many years ago, when we were first married and I used it as a night table with my magazines inside! Wow, you brought me back to memory lane. I love that you got this great find, enjoy it! Hope you come for a visit. Have a happy week.

Great find at a great price. Definitely worth the wait. Lovely texture for your little nook. Thanks for sharing, liz
Kim, I want to shop with you:) You always found the best treasures. Beautiful space for reading and relaxing.
Great basket and comfy looking chair! Perfect spot. XO, Pinky
That basket looks alot like the one I nabbed at Hobby Lobby this year, Kim! The rustic leather strap makes it all the more special, doesn't it? Love it!!
xoxo laurie
Looks like a comfy spot to enjoy that new book!
There is nothing better than a nice comfy place to sit and read. I'm lovin' your new basket too.
What a great plaid on that chair. I much prefer a chair and ottoman to a recliner. Lovely corner!
A girl can never have too many baskets and this one is lovely. Such a comfy spot you've made for yourself there. I don't think I would bother with TV if I were you. x Sharon
Love the basket, but love, LOVE the chair and ottoman. Oh my ...
I love having a little spot like that to kind of get away from it all. Your spot looks so inviting! The basket was a great find!
Looks like a pretty good sized basket for $65 bucks! Good find!
Hey Kim...you seem to have great luck at Scotts...love that you used it as great table. Yes, it is a beautiful space "to chill"...! The latest book of Charles Faudree that I have bought was "Details"....How do you like his newest book..? I guess that's a "dumb" question as all of his books are magnificent...need to hop to Amazon and order it....Have a wonderful day Kim!
I love your reading retreat that you've created with your new (old) basket! You do find the best things!
Our weather was gorgeous here in NC too. LOVE the low humidity days. Love the basket!
I can not believe it was 58 Kim! When the inlaws told me that I was so jealous!;) We were in the 100s all weekend but this week will be filled with thunderstorms so the 80s will be very much enjoyed. Love your new basket!
What a great find! Your weather sounds amazing! I'll be so excited when it's in the 50's in the mornings.
I love the basket Kim it is great! Love the pillow too!

I love the basket used as a side table. The whole space looks so comfy. We were up in the mountains this weekend and enjoyed cooler weather up there.
You always find the best stuff!
What a cozy little reading nook. I'd find it really hard to leave that spot once I sat down :)
Looks like the perfect spot for rest and inspiration. Love it.
Kim, it's lookin' mighty fine beside that pretty chair. :)
Love your basket and your cozy nook!!! I cannot wait to get that book too!! Charles is my favorite designer as well! :)
Looking good Kim! I could use some chillin after this week!~ Heading home soon.
You did strike gold. Great inspiration area!
That basket looks great and it is perfect for storing this and used as a side table.. Love it!
Hi Kim,
Love your little comfy corner, the chair is just beautiful, love the fabric!! Your basket is a great storage/decor solution definitely a keeper.
Your hydrangeas are beautiful in the jar!
All the Best,
Christine
I think you managed to snag a deal, Kim! Comfy cozy corners is what life is all about. And chilling of course. Thanks for joining my party.
Brenda
Lovely place to chill. Love the basket AND the chair. Blessings
I love Charles Faudree. I went into his store in Tulsa once and hoped to see him. I love you sweet little corner for reading. Cute basket.
My step mom has that same basket. She got it as a wedding present from her first marriage. She says it was part of her trousseau and was called a linen storage trunk. I have always loved it.
I have 2 of those baskets that I got at Scott's about 7 years ago! They really do come in handy for side tables. I still have one in my basement...just can not find a place for it.
I love baskets and that one is perfect! I wish I could have met you at Scott's. Maybe next time. :)
I know I already posted but wanted to say thank you for coming to Treasure Hunt Thursday!
i have an almost identical basket, kim, and it has been mine since i was a child. it is now in my lounge (what i'm calling my studio/music room/library now...whatev) and i love seeing it!
:)
michele

I love this reading nook, Kim! That corner is just so comfy looking and invinting. And what a great find on that wicker chest. Enjoy the hours you spend there!
