Tweaking

How was everyone's weekend? We had a great time visiting our son, daughter in law, and grand kids. I wasn't feeling totally up to par though with a summer cold I came down with right before we left. I hope I didn't give it to anyone else. We celebrated the oldest one's fourth birthday even though she will actually be four on the 28th. She says she is already four so we won't argue with that.

I started moving things around again a couple of weeks ago. Imagine that. Say it isn't so! Call it tweaking, fluffing, nesting or just plain crazy.

Yep, these cow prints no longer reside on the stair landing.

I decided the large painting that was in the breakfast room was a better fit here.

Don't you agree??

So where did the cows move to? Well, I guess you will have to wait and see. The answer is pretty obvious though really.

Want to take a guess?

Have a marvelous week!

Kim,
We have the same light on each side of our garage doors. I love them!

Ummmm, the breakfast room? Hehe, I bet now you'll go and say the washroom or something totally different. I think the painting looks great there!

Kim,
I love your new vignette! That bench is the perfect size for that space.I have a landing with a window.I like it but it would be fun to be able to decorate it.Can't wait to see where you moved those sweet cow prints.

When I saw the second pic, my mind/eye registered it as a prehistoric wooly mammoth. The farmer's arm being the tusk! I thought "another antique store find/didn't think that would be her decorating style" Then realized as I saw the next picture what it actually was! I got a good chuckle out of that! I like the new home for it. Hope you feel better. Summer colds are the pits!

That looks great there! i'm guessing that you moved the cow prints to the breakfast area. It's fun to try things in different rooms, isn't it?

So good to hear you had an enjoyable weekend. The picture swich-a-roo looks good.

Brandi said...

So funny, when I first glanced at the picture my thoughts were the same as Molly's. I had to look harder to realize it wasn't a mammoth!

I'm guessing you swapped locations? I'll be doing some rearranging myself during this hurricane. Nothing else to do but watch the weather and decorate -on!

Hahahaha.. Ok. I know I have had a weird morning.. lost power due to rain from TS Isaac. Only 1 hr, but I was not handling it well.... another story. But I glanced at the new picture and thought, ahh elephant. No mammoth. Then I looked again and realized.. told you, weird morning.
Beautiful changes. I am thinking they ended up in the breakfast room or kitchen, no?
:-)
Cheers, Gee

Love the change Kim, also wanted to let you know I ordered a big cow painting like yours. You know I have asked about yours several times and I finally found one:)

What a great picture, Kim. I'm looking forward to seeing where the cows wound up. It's funny how moving one thing starts the ball rolling.

This would make me smile every time I went up the stairs. Love it...and how smart were you to hard wire a light fixture right there?

Bliss said...

When I realized what I thought I saw wasn't what I saw I had to read all the comments to see if I was alone. So yeah what Molly, Brandi and Gee Singh said! Wooly Mammoth/cow, not all that different heh? Guess I better start wearing blog reading glasses.

Too funny! My eyes played the same trick. First glance made me think it was an elephant, but that didn't fit with your style. I laughed when I realized it was a hay. Made me feel better to see that others had the same eye game going on. I like the painting there. The scale is great for the space. Love the bench, etc. As for the cows, guess they will move back to the breakfast room.........Sarah

I call it tweaking, fluffing, nesting AND just plain crazy...aren't we all! (according to others)

Kim, I love your light fixture and the new painting is beautiful! If I had to guess, you probably moved the cows back to the breakfast room, can't wait to see where you placed them. By the way, I really like your bench and pillow, too! Great job!

Pamela said...

Great change Kim! I have that same light fixture for our half bath but we haven't put it up yet. My father in law will be here for an entire week so maybe I can get him to do it for me!:)

My poor house has been neglected (beyond dusting and vacuuming) since the wedding. Perhaps when I get back at the end of the summer I'll have some inspiration (just three sleeps 'til I leave for the UK!)

I thought it was a wooly mammoth, as well. You do move things around a lot, but it always looks great!

Sylvia said...

Here is another wooly mammoth girl. Love the new fluffing. I am curious as to why you haven't painted your stair rail. It looks great but as much as you love to paint, I'm a little surprised it isn't painted.

Andrea said...

I have always have loved that picture, and it looks great in its new home (but I loved it in the breakfast room, too)

Tweaking is always a good thing. It keeps things fresh and lively. :) My guess would be the Cows in the Breakfast room with Col. Mustard and the Candlestick... :)

I'm with Ruby Jean....I think it's the cows in the breakfast room :)

Have a wonderful day!

Fluff away! That haystack print is positively DREAMY! As much as I love the cows, I think this print is the perfect "landing" spot for passersby on the stairway.

Kim @ Savvy Southern Style said...

Well, Sylvia. I actually would love it to be painted, but you are talking about a very hard time consuming job that I really don't want to do myself unless I paint it all one color. I would love for the rail to be dark espresso or black, but then the stair treads would also need to be painted. Just not something I want to tackle unless I can afford to hire someone to do it later.

At first I thought, oh no, the cow prints moved (my favorite)! Then I saw the next photo that showed what you replaced them with, and I agree, the painting looks really wonderful there. A tweaking well done!

I like it! I do like those cow prints too. So want to see where they ended up. (For now. We women don't let things stay put for long!)

Wow - thought it was an elephant at first, but I know that's not your style! Looks nice on the stairway. Hope the cows are back in the breakfast room....they are my fav prints - wish I had a place to hang them! Always loved them in the breakfast room - I've ditched roosters in favor of cows, too :) Linda

Yes, I think you made the right move -- beautiful painting!

Big coincidence, we have granddaughters exactly the same age to the day! Flynn is our second to the youngest. The 28th is also our SIL B-day. We get hammered this time of year with "grands' birthdays" -- 3 this month & one Sept. 2nd, so we are celebrating on Labor Day!

Hope you are feeling better!

My guess is the cows went to the kitchen. Am I right? Thanks for stopping by today and leaving me a sweet note about the Chipper Chicken Soup. I'm sorry about your cold. Hope you are improving. My hubby ended up going to the doctor as his cold had turned to bronchitis. Anyway, I'd bring you some soup if we lived close. ;-) Feel better soon!

The painting is wonderful on the landing, Kim! I need to start looking around for new artwork.

I am catching up this morning. I have had limited time on the computer. I have Shingles!!! This is the 3rd time. They always seem to show up for me after stressful situations. I guess trying to sell the house triggered it this time! Anyway...too painful to blog or visit, since last week and still having to do short trips through blogland.

I loved the previous post about the antique mall..saw lots of goodies.

Loved your grands pics too!:-)

Love the new location for the painting, but I haven't a clue where you've moved those cows. They've already been in the kitchen, so that's a no-go. The family room?

Anita @ Cedar Hill Ranch said...

Love the new look on your landing. The painting goes so well with your bench and that gorgeous pillow.

Skipping down to the comment box, I saw that someone else thought the same thing I did: When I saw the first photo of the new painting, I could see a wooly mammoth ! I'm glad I wasn't the only one. But I thought, you know, she had one animal up on the wall, and just changed it for another. Why should that be so strange ? But I like the hay much better. :-)

Love the changes Kim~ it's fun to move things around and try something different. Can't wait to see where those cows ended up! :)

Shirley@Housepitality Designs said...

I love the change!...Yes the "wooly mammoth" looks wonderful there...That is so funny...!...I, like you, love to change things around...there has got to be a name for that disorder..."manic tweaking disorder"...but changes are always a good thing!!...Great therapy I call it!!...I could guess the kitchen is where you herded the cows, but then again...could you fool us all and relocated all the cows to another room?....I guess we shall find out soon!

Alison @ The Polohouse said...

I am going to guess the kitchen, but I am not sure!!
Love where your little boy blue and his haystack "landed"!!!

Perfection.
