Now on to this week's guest blogger's favorite room.

A great big thanks to Kim for including me in her fabulous weekly series...

MY FAVORITE ROOM

Kim  has been a blogging friend for a long time. I admire her beautiful and original sense of style... her eye for economy in decorating and the inspiration she shares almost daily!

I am thrilled to be a guest at SAVVY SOUTHERN STYLE today...

When Kim asked me to share my favorite room it was an easy pick...

MY KITCHEN

The kitchen at StoneGable is really the heart of my home and the hub of activity!  Family and friends gravitate to the kitchen...  and gather around the island...

Pull up a seat and I will show you around...

We live in the bucolic farmland of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania... so my kitchen, as well as my whole home, is farmhouse style.

All of my kitchen cabinetry was built in my garage. I wanted to reflect a simple farmhouse style with lots of  interesting extras like... the heavy molding on the top and bottom of each cabinet and the rounded fluted corners.

Simple, traditional and updated... with a twist!

I really want my kitchen to reflect me and my family. Adding special little touches to everyday activities is something that is important to me... it makes living here at StoneGable special..

My coffee station changes with the seasons...

I love glass canisters... adding pumpkins to the the "canister parade" is a fun fall touch! I am forever changing little things in my kitchen!

My counters and sink are soapstone...I waited a long time to make this upgrade!

This trough sink holds a lot of dishes!!! In our home Bobby does all the dishes... bless his little dishpan hands!

On the other side of the kitchen is a big pantry.

I keep most of my dry goods, pots and pans and kitchen appliances behind closed doors. I like an uncluttered kitchen!

There is lots and lots of room in those cabinets!

My cooktop and oven get a daily workout! My favorite thing to make here is soup!

I am a foodie at heart and love to cook. Most days you will find me donning an apron and whipping something up! My aprons hang as part of the decor in my kitchen...

I love dishes... and soup tureens, and pitchers, and platters, and bowls... you get the picture.

Just off the kitchen is our kitchen table. It is tucked into a small bump-out.

Not only do we eat at the table, but it also makes a great buffet when we are eating in the dining room. I set up a fall buffet today...

Thanks Kim for asking me to share MY FAVORITE ROOM..

StoneGable is always open to friends... old and new!

  21. Your kitchen is gorgeous, Yvonne! I know a lot of thought and love went into this redo when you did it. How do you like the soapstone counters? We will have to get new counters next year and I'm not sure what I want to go with. In our old house we had Corian, but I was thinking granite. Cost will be a deciding factor here.

  40. Hi Jennifer, It's Yvonne. I got my farm table from a local artisan...Lost In The Country Rustics.
It is made from 200 year old barn beams and is hand hewned. It sits 6 comfortablly and has 2 leaves and I can fit 10.
The chairs were ordered from there too!
    Hope this helps!!!
