Transitioning

9.16.2012

Transitioning, fluffing, nesting or whatever you want to call it I am in full mode. Fall is in the air and it is time to add the colors of the season in my home. An easy way that I do that is to change out some of my pillows. I like to add warmer colors and tones like russet, golden browns and greens. Everyone knows I have a slight addiction obsession with pillows and here are a few I have added for the new season.

Who's looking at you? Sorry had to do that. I love my new owl pillow. I have had this for a while. It came from Joss & Main with a credit I had.

Isn't he cute sitting in this contemporary style chair, also from Joss & Main, in the great room? I will share the full view soon.

Here is a peek at my fall arrangement on the front door. I like to continue these colors inside.

These pillows have all the warm fall tones. The buffalo checked ones were bought last year from Ballard's. The golden brown ones are from Pottery Barn this year.

This is the aubusson pillow I purchased several months ago at a consignment shop that my sister and I take stuff to. Well, guess what? This was her pillow that she took there and I bought it. Yep, true story.

This cute little pillow is from my sponsor Ann of  Sutton Place Designs.

Here is a closer look. The holidays will be here before we know it and it is the time we gather together.

This is a new little pillow that I found in an antique shop in Franklin, Tn. when we went to Nashville.

It is on the brown velvet sofa in the sitting room.

This is another pillow cover made by Ann. One side is plaid and the other side is a brown toile.

I love the plaid side with my horse pillow in front of it in the sitting room. I have had to wrap the leather cushion with a throw since Miss Bailey has scratched a hole in the seat. Bad dog.

Changing pillows is such an easy way to bring in the colors of the season. What do you do to bring in the colors of fall?

Have a super week!

  8. I love the "Gather Together" pillow with the bench and basket. They look wonderful together. I also like the tasseled one and the reversable checkered one. I love pillows but alas, my husband is irritated by decorations other than taxidermy sooo.....I can only dream and live vicariously though others like you. Thank-you for sharing.

  9. Kim, I have a pillow obsession too. LOL My question is where do you store your seasonal pillows? It's a problem for me with such limited space. If possible, I just get pillows that have removable pillow forms. Then I can store just the cover and reuse the down pillow form. But it's tricky because of so many different pillow forms and sizes as well as many are sewn closed. Love that perky owl pillow. ;-)

  13. I have got to get some new pillows! It's amazing how much they can transform a room. Your sofa looks so pretty with all of the beautiful fall colors. I love Ann's pillow Gather Together. I wonder if she got that from the song "We gather together to ask the Lord's blessings..." Anyway, love all of the fall touches in your home.

  17. The autumn colors look so beautiful in your home. I'm loving the plaid pillow by Ann... it looks like it was made for that chair! One of the reasons I wanted to learn how to sew was so I could easily change out pillow covers each season... but I have yet to get around to making some for fall! :-)

  26. I just now saw this...thank you so much! All your brown accents are so autumnal. I think brown is the go-to shade for fall this year for sure. I love where you put the little "we gather" pillow. Great job. :o)

  32. It's possible that you are WORSE THAN i am when it comes to pillows. Yours look so fresh and seasonal...they do wear out...like clothes (I am justifying a new purchase). Its sooo hot here...hard to feel like Fall right now.

  33. Love all your pillows! The plaid and toile have to be my favorites.

  34. There is something about owls that I don't like (in home decor). I'm not jumping on that bandwagon!

Love the pillow with the plaid and the toile square. I am going to try to copy that one! Yes, I sew (somewhat) and pillows are easy!!

I will decorate outside in a few weeks, my flowers are still so pretty and going strong and I'm not quite ready to let go of summer. I generally decorate in October and leave that up till Thanksgiving weekend - then the Christmas decs come out.

  43. So many pillows to love, and I can see why you love each and every one.♥

  44. I just love seeing all the different pillows you have, Kim! And your choices for fall are just perfect. For me, fall means switching out the slipcover on the couch (from a taupe kettle cloth to a claret red corduroy), changing the bedding in both bedrooms, and changing over to darker hued blankets and shawls that I drape over the chairs in the parlor and on the verandah. With those few changes, my cottage can go nicely into the cooler weather.
