Cozying Up the Other Guest Room

Before it is time to start pulling out the Christmas decorations I thought I would show you how I have changed the other guest room. It has been like this ever since I went into nesting mode in September. There are lots of changes from bedding to lamps and even vignettes to make it feel warmer and cozier for the colder seasons. I really need to quit visiting the Pottery Barn outlet because they have such good deals on bedding and it all wants to hop in my cart. I just love red and cannot leave it out of my home. You can see how the room did look here for spring and summer.

I was looking at frenchlarkspur.com to see what vintage goodies she had listed and saw this grain sack with my son's and granddaughter's initials on and had to have it.

This is the nightstand that I made over with Miss Mustard Seed milk paint in Ironstone.

I put together this fall arrangement in my vintage enamelware pot. In a few weeks it will be time to add some Christmas greenery. Hard to believe.

I layered the red striped bed skirt over the white one since the striped one is not long enough.
Lucked up and found this brass lamp at Restoration Hardware Outlet. Regular price on RH is $229. I got it for $109. Score! Now I keep checking back for another one.
This little vintage clock was purchased in Raleigh, NC when I went to the Southern Bloggers Conference.

Mr. Savvy replaced the very dated ceiling fan with this school light that I bought with credit on Joss & Main.
Until next time.

Another beautiful room, Kim, that any guest would be fortunate to stay in! I always love how you coordinate bedding and you have to know that I love your schoolhouse light. :-)

Looks so pretty Kim. I love the bedding and the pharmacy light looks fantastic!

Kim, that room is amazing. I noticed that you don't have the shams that match the duvet. I will remember that! Sometimes when you find things on sale they don't have all of the pieces. Love the way you coordinated but didn't match it all.

And by the way, I'd love to have the outlet instead of the real store to shop from!

I love the red too...I think it is one of those colors like black that you just have to use. I especially love the duvet fabric. I bought fabric very similar to that that I am using in both bathrooms. Hard to believe that Christmas will be soon here, but I'm really excited about doing something different this year. Thanks for stopping by

Very pretty, Kim. I like the layered bedskirt look and it's a good solution for a short one. I saw a duvet cover I liked in the new PB catalog and I'm thinking of heading to the outlet to see if they have it there.

I LOVE that grain sack pillow on the bed! That is gorgeous. Love your new lamp from RH too. Does it feel wierd to buy brass again? I do like that kind of brass though. It's not cheap looking.

I really like the school light fixture and the brass lamp. Red is one of my favorite colors too.

Barbara (WA) said...

Beautiful colors! I noticed a comment asking about buying brass again - I've been noticing it show up everywhere and have been wondering about it being "in" again. Your lamp is such a warm version of brass, I love it! I personally am getting a bit tired of seeing white, gray, nickel, etc. Thinking of warming up things around here with warmer metals. Maybe the new brass things will fill the bill. (I still have ugly old shiny brass 80's stuff to get rid of, however!)

LOVE the brass lamp. Our Restoration Hardware outlet is a couple hours away -- darn it. The school house lamp is so pretty. I don't like those ceiling fans with the dated country bulbs...like in my daughter's apartment...that needs to go. I appreciate people wanting the fan...but ugh!

This is a beautiful room. I love the way you've blended vintage with the new. The red-striped bedskirt with the floral duvet cover, the grain sacks with the red initials, and the fall floral arrangement with the gold bird (who has attitude) look as though they are in a Pottery Barn showroom. The yellow lamp with the touches of red also fits with the room so well. Are you sure you want another brass lamp in its place? Oh, yes, the little vintage creamy yellow clock is perfect.

I'm becoming a new follower. Can't wait to see what you do for Christmas!
