French Plates
Do you ever have one of those days that you just need to get out of the house and drive somewhere? I had one of those days last week. It was finally sunny and gorgeous out after several cloudy and windy days. I wasn't sure where I was going, but I ended up at a little antique shop that I haven't been to in awhile.
I was just walking around in the store not looking for anything specific.
I wasn't really seeing anything that jumped out at me either.
I was going down the last aisle and glanced in a booth and spied these plates on a bottom shelf.
Of course I had to take a closer look. They were very pretty rimmed in gold. The tag read $56 for eight plates. Not a bad price.
A separate tag said two plates have small chips. This is the largest one.
The tag also read Haviland France plates.
The best part was a sign in the booth that said everything was 40% off.
These will be appearing in a tablescape soon.
Thanks to all our veterans who have served our country.
Happy Veterans Day

Those are pretty! They remind me of a set my Mom gave me with silver rims...from Poland. I have 4-5 sets of good china, and really not another place to put anything.
What a great deal you got. 40% off, you should be jumping with joy:)
Pretty plates, I really like the scalloped edge. Hugs, Marty

Beautiful and timeless china Kim. I have been fortunate to find two large pieces of Limoges from France lately. xo, Olive

Such beautiful, simple plates. Score!
Great score! I have an entire set, every kind of plate, bowl, platter, you name it. It's from my 86 year old mom, who's been collecting it all her life and I just love it :)
Same here! We got our set of Haviland from my husbands family. I never use them because they are so special. As you found out, you can get some awesome deals on china these days, because the younger set just hasn't found them as special as we do. Truly beautiful!
I know what you mean about getting out. I tend to be a hermit and I think my inspiration is suffering. I may just have to take a trip to my antique mall this week. Love your dishes of course...you are a lucky girl!
Oh wow that is one awesome find! I would have brought them home with me too!
Kim,
What a find! Those will be so pretty with almost any table setting.
Karen
Great plates, Kim. Love the saclloped edge. What a find I love anything French.
Cynthia
Beautiful plates...you can never have too many to mix and match!
Definitely a score at that price, Kim. :)
I love French Limoges plates! I have to admit I'm always on Etsy searching for new listings... they have quite a few listings of coordinating pieces for the plates you just purchased actually. Just search Haviland Limoges or Haviland France. Of course, you've probably already done just that! And don't worry, I'm more of a pink and silver girl... won't be fighting you for the gold rimmed pieces ;)
Just love a great find at an even greater price! Love your new plates.
Love your plates, Kim. My mom has a set from her mom. Who doesn't love a good family heirloom? I made sure to register for fine china with gold rims as well so I can mix and match. Thanks for sharing, liz
I can't tell you how many times I have thought to send you a picture of something you have posted about that I have, too. It is absolutely spooky.... In this case, I have a set of about 20 of these plates, signed Haviland Limoges France also. They were my Mother's and I treasure them. Mine are plain white without the gold rim, but they have the same scallopy edge. I think mine were considered blanks and they were more often painted rather than left plain. Hope you enjoy them for a long time! Erin
Kim, those are so pretty. I'm the kind of person that would have walked right by those plates and not seen them. Some people have all the luck! I'm sure they'll be beautiful in your tablescape. Can't wait to see it!
