A Gathered Vignette

For some reason when the new year starts I start fretting about what on earth I am going to blog about and then a few things will pop in my head, but I'm not sure how many times y'all want to see my crazy decor changes. Only problem, that is why I started blogging in the first place to have an outlet for all those crazy changes. So if you are tired of seeing me show you my vignettes, painted furniture, rooms, things moving from here to there then you best move on to the next blog. For those who want to see my tweaking, repainted pieces, new finds and maybe a recipe or two then I hope you will stick around. (smile)

The first vignette I have created for the new year is a combination of this and that that I put together on the dining room table after putting away the Christmas table setting. My daughter gave me this huge tray for Christmas and I wasn't sure where to use it at first and I just set it on the table in the dining room. Then I just started adding this and that and liked the way it was looking at I added another piece. Hmmmm, not too bad. Let's grab the camera and take some pics.

The silver plated monogrammed vintage knives and stack of plates are from one of my new sponsors, Maison French Kissed etsy shop. She has just marked down some of her wares.

Some of you may be familiar with Jermaine's blog, French Kissed, and she sells some wonderful vintage pieces so hop on over and check her things out.

Now all I need is some French bread, good cheese, fruit, wine and you.

Thanks for hanging with me and be sure to come back tomorrow for another great guest poster sharing her "favorite room" in my continuing series.

  3. I'm hanging in with you! That's the whole point to come on over and get inspired by all the tweaking and changes. That's what we bloggers love to do, tweak, create, change things up a bit! Happy New Year to you and your family. Love the tray that your daughter gave you and the vignette looks pretty darn good on the dining table. I'll be back in a couple days to see if you changed it :)

  5. That looks great. Your daughter did good. Love that tray. I was trying to sleep last night and could not, kept thinking what am I going to do with the table in the foyer now that the manger has been put away. Kept thinking can't wait to see what vignettes Kim will come up with this new year. And sure enough there it was for some ideas. Thanks a bunch for sharing all your bright ideas. Never tire of them. Have a great first week of 2013. Sheila

  6. Would you happen to know where your daughter found the tray? I saw one that Miss Mustard Seed (Marion) showed on her blog from that place that sells certain items on a certain date. Unfortunately I missed the day and have never seen the tray again.

I enjoy seeing your changes even if I don't understand the need to change all the time! LOL!! I enjoy your yard pictures also and the Lela and Bailey pix! I say keep sharing as you do but it might be nice to see a little more of your life and hear about what else you do. (Hint, more pix of Lela and Bailey!!)

  8. I don't get tired of the changes. I LOVE the tray. I think my best vignettes are the ones that just sort of gather. I'm never real good at those that I "force". Thanks for sharing.

  9. Kim you always inspire with your new fresh ideas. I never get tired of seeing them. I have pretty much gone the craft route on my blog because I found I really enjoy recycling and repurposing, and doing things on the cheap for now. I always knew I liked it, but never was that great...I suppose with more practice I can only improve. Love this vignette.

  22. I read the first section and laughed because I thought the same thing yesterday while writing a post. In the end though, I think that is what keeps people showing up all the time and loving what you do. They want to see the "tweaks" and the love you have for your home. This vignette was very pretty.

  23. I'm staying :-) I am all about the tweaking and moving about of decor. A decorator's job is never done.
What a pretty tray, and vignette. I have been agonizing about taking down Christmas and what to put up in it's wake.... Silly to some , but not to me. The home always feel so empty after the removal of all the bright and shiny.
    Keep doing what you do.
    Cheers, Gee
