An Aged Makeover

This is a project I did in 2012 and never shared with y'all. I bought a small table a few months ago and was not thrilled with the finish on it so of course my paint brushes came out. I ordered it on line and sometimes things are quite like you expect once you see it in person.

I recently did a little switching of things in the great room and decided to use this table between the two chairs. I painted the table Chateau Gray in Annie Sloan chalk paint since the color works well in here.

This is what it looked like before I got a hold of it with paint. It was okay, but looked rather cheap. It is solid wood, but it was made in Indonesia and I did not care for the white wash  finish on it. When I ordered it the picture on line showed separate wood planks on top, but that is not what it is. Since it was purchased with a credit I had it made it not too bad that I didn't love it. Thanks goodness I knew I could change it with paint.

 I also used the cracquilier  and love the way it gave the table a nice aged look.

After the crackle step is dry then you immediately add dark wax and watch the magic happen.

I have moved some lamps around and this one ended up here. It fits this table well and adds some good reading light.

Oh, and yes, I added this red rug that was being stored away after taking it out of the sun room months ago.

Glad it works here and glad I still love red.
