I recently did a little switching of things in the great room and decided to use this table between the two chairs. I painted the table Chateau Gray in Annie Sloan chalk paint since the color works well in here.
This is what it looked like before I got a hold of it with paint. It was okay, but looked rather cheap. It is solid wood, but it was made in Indonesia and I did not care for the white wash finish on it. When I ordered it the picture on line showed separate wood planks on top, but that is not what it is. Since it was purchased with a credit I had it made it not too bad that I didn't love it. Thanks goodness I knew I could change it with paint.
I also used the cracquilier and love the way it gave the table a nice aged look.
After the crackle step is dry then you immediately add dark wax and watch the magic happen.
This shot really shows the detail.
I have moved some lamps around and this one ended up here. It fits this table well and adds some good reading light.
Oh, and yes, I added this red rug that was being stored away after taking it out of the sun room months ago.
Glad it works here and glad I still love red.
Here is what I have been working on and off all week. I sure hope I can finish soon.
For some reason I can't leave a comment on some blogs, but know I am looking.

Kim,
It is all so pretty. I love the red rug too for accent. I can't wait to see the finished product of what you are working on.

I really like the way the red chair and leather chair are arranged in such a cozy seating area. The red rug is a nice touch too.
Cute table Kim!
Love the table Kim! I've been wanting to try the crackle medium from Annie Sloan for a while now...Is that what you used? Think I'll give a go after seeing your table!
I like the crackle finish. Really pretty color too. Nice makeover!

Absolutely lovely!
Your paint job makes the piece, definitely better.
It is nice to know that we can fix a piece just with a little paint! The crackle finish polishes it up just right.

I love it~ the finish is perfect and it looks great with your chairs!
Really nice. I have to ask though whether my eyes are playing tricks on me or not....the legs on the newly painted table look slanted out which I love as opposed to the original look of the table with straight legs. If this is actually real and not my eyes playing with me, how did you change the legs to be slanted out like that? Did you replace the legs or what? I love it!
Hi Kim,
Love the new colour! I think the size is pretty nice too, between those two lovely chairs.
Have a great day today, the painting of the kitchen cabinets looks fantastic! Time consuming but so worth it!
All the Best,
Christine
Your table looks great and really pulls out the gray in the tapestry chair.

The crackle finish is one of my favorites of all, this looks wonderful. The cabinets looks amazing too. Hugs, marty
Turned out wonderfully. I also happen to be a big fan of red too!
Wonderful aged look for what you called a "cheap" looking table. It's perfect now. Thanks for stopping by The Little White House and for your nice comment. It means a lot to me who's been reading your blog for a long time...
What a great post to enjoy on this Winter's day... I have been busy with some decorating and craft projects this week and behind on reading my emails and posts. So glad I stopped in to enjoy your site! Really like how that finsh turned out and the colors you used.

I love the crackled finish you gave it! It looks great in between those two chairs.
I love the way the table pulls the vignette together. It's so nice you could turn a disappointment into "just right".
Have a good weekend.
Country Lady, I think the first shot was taken from a different side of the table. One way looks straight and the other way the legs are angled. I didn't do that to them. The sides facing the chairs is straight and the side you see is angled. You are very observant because I didn't even notice that.
Crushing on your table Kim. The perfect size...
Luv the red rug.
I started to remove the red from our home. It was decorated in a Tuscan theme the last 6 years, and I was tired of it. I did get rid the gold walls and accents , but I found I could not get rid of all the red. Surprise... I still luv it. I think I luv it more with the soft white and cream walls.
Decorating... never done :-)
Hugs, Gee
Cute makeover Kim, I love the crackled top! I can't wait to see your other project finished!
Kim,
I cant wait to see how the painting of the cupboard went. It looks like a lovely color:)
Kim, I love what you did with the table. Crackle is always fun to try. Can't wait until you show us your new cabinets!

I swear you could make a piece of junk from the trash look just awesome! Love the table and the crackle finish!
What an awesome makeover. The aged effect is perfect for this little table. Hope you are having a great day. -Al

Looking good Kim and cant wait to see the next project...
You made that table look great Kim! Glad to see I am not the only one who paints on their kitchen tables!
The chalk paint was just what it needed. I love how the legs splay out - such pretty lines. The gray goes so well with the red in the chair and the carpet.
Girl, do you EVER sit down and read in one of those chairs???? I have never seen anyone who does more projects!!! Love this little table and LOVE the crackle finish. XO, pinky
Great job on the table Kim. I really like the lamp too. So pretty!
Looks great!! Like I said... I have plenty of things here you could experiment with! LOL! blessings ~ tanna
The new color looks great, Kim. Looking forward to a better look at your current project! :)
Oooooo! Love that table, Kim! I've never tried the cracquilier, but your table makes me want to give it a try. Love what you did with it!
Glad to see the red rug come out again! Your little table is perfect now and has the SSS touch. I still say you should go into business. :o)
I might have to get brave and try the crackle on a piece of furniture. We tried it on a wall one time years ago and lets just say we vowed never again.
When I am on my ipad sometimes I can't comment on blogs, only from my ipad though.

Hi Kim, Love the crackle finish. What did you use and where can I get it?
Thanks,
Jonna
I love the color and the crackle finish!! :) I can't wait to see the rest of your Creations :)

Your little table is great Kim. So are you painting all of your kitchen cabinets or just the jut out that was black? What are you planning on sealing it with? I am wanting to paint our kitchen cabinets from top to bottom with chalk paint but am hesitant to do so. I have not decided yet on what I would seal them with.
Very pretty! Awesome job!
The table is soooo much better. I've never used the crackle stuff.
Kim, I love the table!
Love the table..the crackle finish adds so much character....looks great between the chairs and against the red rug...
Hi Kim!!
I love the colors in the room. The table sure goes good with the blue in the chair on the right. I love that chair!!
Great job!!
