Industrial Chic

I don't know when I started having a fondness for the industrial look, but I have. Just in small doses though.

I found this floor lamp at the Restoration Hardware outlet store at the after Christmas clearance sale.

Mr. Savvy has been needing some better light by his chair and this bright light certainly does the trick and it is adjustable.

I think it looks good, too while providing him light.

While we are here I thought I would show some winter looks in the great room. I kept these PB pillows in that I used for Christmas since they are winter themed and still work till spring.

I wish y'all had feel-a-vision so you could pet this furry cheetah throw. It feels so good.

I made a small change on the mantel by adding this urn with my trimmed rosemary plant in it.

You can see the red rug I added to this area. So glad it is the perfect shade with my furniture.

So do you think the added industrial works with my traditional decor? I think I like the mix.

Have a super week!

  1. Love it all and want that new lamp addition too. If only I could find great deals! No Restoration Hardware or Pottery Barn outlets near me in Ohio.

  2. Hi Kim, I like the mix too. And it's hard not to see things in Restoration Hardware and not like them immediately. They always have such great styling! Hubby has been wanting a light too, and that one would probably fit the bill. Looks great in your room! Have a good week!

  7. I love your lamp and the wonderful red rug. If we didn't have sand blowing in all the time and a dog (don't know why she isn't hairless by now) then I would run out and find that rug.

  8. Of course a bit of Industrial coordinates with Traditional! The common theme in your decor (or anyone else's, for that matter) is YOUR taste and preferences. If you like it, it probably goes together just fine. Besides, any decor that is just one thing or theme is boring and predictable. (You seem to be a lot of things, Kim, dear ... boring isn't one of them.)

  23. I am always about a mix of things. I don't like it when things are too "matchy matchy". I like different eras of items, different textures and certainly different styles...all pulled together to create something unique to the people who live there! A friend told me yesterday that I always have such interesting things sitting out around my house...I told her that I really don't, I just have things that some people don't think of as decor! Love the lamp!

  25. I'll throw my hat in the ring also and vote yes on the lamp. A little bit of black in any room always makes the rest of the colors and furniture pop!! Nice addition --- with the added bonus of it being so functional.

I love mixing things up and really love mixing vintage and industrial looking things with the traditional. It gives it a more eclectic and interesting look. That cheetah throw would feel really good this morning! It's 8 degrees here in Michigan. I'm stting by the fire catching up on reading blogs.
