Now you see him.
Now you don't.
They did this all day. Dipping, diving, and swimming.
This is normally a sign of spring around here, but we really haven't had winter yet. We normally have mallards. I think these are called wood ducks but, not sure.
At least they are cute to watch and thank goodness after a week of gloom and rain we finally have sunshine.
Post edit: looks like the ducks are Hooded Mersingers that a commenter mentioned.
May your day be filled with sun.
Oh, and I am not a fan of football, but GO FALCONS!!
Mr. Savvy and I will be babysitting Leila while her parents go to the game. Mr. Savvy prefers watching it on the television anyway and they have a nice big screen over their fireplace.
My project hopefully will get finished tomorrow if I could just stay with it.

We've had about a dozen wood ducks on our pond too. They are so cute and busy.
Lucky you Kim, to have a pond and such a pretty view out your back window! Enjoy your Sunday!

So cute Kim!
Fun! I love finding birds coming into my backyard to go in the pond. We haven't ever had ducks. That would be great to see them enjoying the water!
Have a great day!
Pam
Always fun to see the ducks -- even if it's January! RISE UP, Falcons! Let's hope they can bring their "A" game today. :) Enjoy ~ xo Heidi
One time, when I visited a friend, she showed me wood ducks swimming in her swimming pool with several babies. They had nested in a tree nearby. They were sooo cute!! I love your pond and lucky you, to have your wood ducks.
Wow I wish I had that view out my window! All I can see is my neighbor's house. Have a great Sunday!
Oh what fun. It is so fun to whatch them. Great pictures. Hugs, Marty
Yes, Crazy Kim in her Jammies!! OMG another similarity- not a big football fan but rooting for our Falcons!
Those ducks are so pretty swimming in your pond. I bet that's fun to sit there and watch them. Will would love to see them in person! We watched the Falcons games last week with such intensity and are so excited to see them at this next level. Fingers crossed that they will win and make it to the Superbowl! Have fun watching Leila today. Eric and Brooke are going to have a blast at the game, I bet.
No ducks out my windows - just Sand Hill Cranes. I love football (more so than my hubs) and, sorry, but I'll be routing for the 49's - they were my dad's favorite team - and the only one left in the playoffs that I'm for. Oh, I'm still in my jammies too, but I've caught a dreaded cold and just not feeling "it" today - insert a sad face here. Have a great Sunday and go "niners"!
Hugs -
Carol
What cute little ducks! How wonderful to have that pretty pond to look at every day. We will sunny and 70 degrees today too! Have fun watching the game, I think I might have to work outside and then practice some super bowl food :)

Just dropped over from Cozy Little House and what a treat to see the Hooded Mergansers. You are so fortunate to have the pond close by for them to visit. I'm enjoying my visit to your blog.

I'm with you...GO FALCONS!!!
Our favorite place to watch them is on our big screen tv, too! No crowds & we can 'tailgate' in our own backyard!!

Kim,
That is such a gorgeous view and those wood ducks are adorable. I love thier cute heads!! We finally are getting winter here in Chicago with only single digit temps today. So glad the sun is out to make if feel warmer. Glad to hear someone else takes pictures in her jammies!!
Kris
Beautiful setting! I saw ducks on our creek a few weeks ago, but couldn't get good shots.
We also have had beautiful warm days ---- guess what --- snow is on its way tonight!! Ugh!! No ducks for us to spot out of our window --- but plenty of deer. You have given me an idea Kim, next time deer show up -- out comes the camera. Thanks for sharing!!

Those ducks are so cute. I have not seen that kind before!
What a beautiful view Kim! Now that the Texans are out our home is rooting for The Falcons as well!:)
How fun to have nature right in your backyard! We get raccoon and deer mostly. Plus a little cat that thinks it lives here now! We had sun for an entire week? Super rare, but I'll take it :)
Happy weekend!!
Such a pretty little glimpse into your view. I sort of get pulled into the whole football thing. I don't mind it if the sound is on a bit lower than usual :)
Those ducks are cute as can be...you got some great pictures !!
I love these sunny shots of the ducks. (If you are at all interested, I have a Sunlit Sunday link-up on my blog. If not, fair enough and feel free to delete this comment. Either way, I chuckled at the diving ducks!)

Hi Kim!
How fun to have such special ducks on your pond!!
I think that one that did the diving is a Bufflehead. Here's a link for you: http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Bufflehead/id
We used to watch them on the bayou in Michigan and later down the Niagara River in NY. They are such fun.
I love nature! I was sitting outside in our backyard today-our two resident morning dove and mr. and mrs. cardinal swept by. Thank you for this inspiration!
What a nice pond you have-it must be wonderful to watch wildlife using it.
What a pretty sight out your window!
Such a pretty view! Ducks are fun to watch, I think.
The weather has been crazy here in Kentucky. 72 degrees last week and a high of 24 today. Just crazy! But not a lot of snow.
Oh what a gorgeous view...I bet Bailey was just wanting to get out there and get to those ducks!...Yes, unusual temps...some of our trees started to bud and then the temps are going to drop significantly this week...!
Sorry about your Falcons...but I think it is pretty awesome that the "brothers" are in the Super Bowl.....
You lucky duck, spring must be close for you! I wish our ducks were here, when they swim on our pool it means that spring is here, but in Canada we are only just starting winter and have 4 or more months until we see our ducks :-(
