Gathered Over Time

I have been on the hunt for an alabaster or marble lamp at a good price for quite some time. I already have a small brown alabaster lamp that I got for a steal of ten dollars a couple years ago, but then I wanted a white one.

I finally came across this little vintage beauty on One Kings Lane back in December and was thrilled when I received it last month.

I love the details on this one. I didn't care for the shade that came with it, but had a spare one that worked out nicely for now.

I wasn't sure where this little beauty would be used and then I tried it on this chest in the dining room.

I already had the blue and white vintage covered dish here and added the old blue crock filled with wheat.

I love this covered dish that I found last year at an antique mall while out of town. I was thrilled to find it at 50% off.

The wheat was just added for texture and to add softness to the vignette plus I think it gives a French Country feel.

My favorite thing is still the old collie painting. I love how it is very old and discolored and imperfect.
That just adds to the charm.

Everything in this vignette was gathered over time.

And there's that dresser that I love so much. I will never get tired of seeing pictures of that piece. The new lamp is lovely, and I like where it ended up. Not sure what the original shade looked like, but I like the one it has on, as well as the rest of the arrangement. Have a great week!

Morning Kim,
Your new lamp is really pretty and looks great in this vignette, also very pretty, I might add.
Hey, I have a question. I was showing my daughter your new green kitchen cabinets and tutorial you did a few days ago as she is thinking about doing
her bottom cabinets a different color, but she was wanting to do the expresso color, so know you had
a post with a link to your kitchen with the black cabinets and we tried to find it but couldn't.........and was wondering if you could possible when you get time, send me the link to it and if you happen to have a tutorial on it as well, that would be great, that way she can get a good idea how it would work for her.
Thanks for your time hon,,
Blessings, Nellie

Very pretty. I remember when you started to paint that piece of furniture and I was in shock. It is so pretty that blue color!

That lamp is fantastic. I love the floral wrap around design. Very pretty. I love all the deep markings in the center. This has a very authentic French look. My husband's parents (in France) have marble floors all throughout the first floor of their house. I have always loved that. Wonderful lamp. You have a gorgeous style!

I just love that Collie painting! Alabaster lamps are one of my favorite things too...I sold a large one at Luckett's fair last year for $10! I'm wishing I would have kept it for my house now. I just love that vignette and dresser :)

Your lamp looks great in it's new home Kim. I have an alabaster lamp that was on my beside table. After I put the two porch baluster lamps in there I moved mine to my little office, which is not set up nice enough to blog about yet...lol.

I grew up with a collie names Laddie and love your paiting!

I had an alabaster lamp in Joe's closet for YEARS and never used it and think I gave it to GW when we moved:( I am so sorry, I would have given it to you. If I find it I will let you know. I just never had a place for it. Yours looks so pretty on the chest with the other pieces. XO, Pinky

The first thing that caught my eye was that collie painting. It is beautiful. The entire vignette is gorgeous but that painting certainly anchors it - and I've always loved the color of that chest.

Glad you finally found one! It's very pretty! I had no idea (when I found mine) that they are so difficult to find. I will say that it is one lamp that I've never tired of and stored in the basement like all the others have. LOL! I know you will enjoy using yours for years to come.

Kim, this is usually how I decorate!Something picked up... something brought from another room... another thing found. It does take time and I am usually not in too much of a hurry!
I didn't get the chance to tell you how GORGEOUS I think your kitchen came out. Outstanding!!! And thanks for the tip about the glaze. I have that very same glaze way in the back of my supply closet. I used to use it before ASCP dark wax. I am painting my dining room chairs and I think the glaze will work better than the wax. Thanks so much!!! Lots of beauty and inspiration at SSS! I must check in at least once a day!

I love the alabaster lamp. I have an old beat up one and walked away from one that was very low priced and need to be kicked for it.

I think this is a wonderful vignette. You've just inspired me to use some wheat in a container that I have. The little alabaster lamp is a great size. It's so hard to find the smaller ones.

Your lamp is so pretty! I found one the other day for an amazing price, but then I noticed there was quite a sizable chunk broken off, so the price didn't lure me in.

Nice lamp, Kim. Alabaster lamps are wonderful accessories. We have one that we've enjoyed for 15 years. It's heavy and adds substance to the room. Your vignette is lovely.

Those are all lovely pieces that you have pulled together so nicely on the blue cabinet, Kim. Love the paint colour on the cabinet and the covered dish is a wonderful piece. I'm used to seeing the brighter blue of transferware and it looks like that is a deeper indigo blue. Gorgeous.

I think the best vignettes and decorated rooms are made up of items that are gathered over time. Your little lamp is adorable and fits into the gathered vignette just perfectly!

I believe alabaster is one of the loveliest lamps, because they are so versatile. One of our bedroom's has a white lamp with a black shade. Love it!
BTW, you did get a great deal.

Thanks again for the inspiration!
