Maybe This Year

5.18.2013

I have been dreaming of a garden shed/green house for years,  I have begged pleaded nagged Mr. Savvy every spring and summer and still nothing. There is hope that maybe this year is the year. I  think he may be finally caving.

Here are some inspiration that I have been pinning.

You see, we have over thirty old windows, that we have replaced on our house, saved in a storage room under the sunroom. So we could do something like this.

It doesn't have to be all glass. It could have beautiful old doors like this one. Love the ladder planter.

It might be rustic inside or it may have vibrant colors.

One of my favorite sheds is Mary's at Home is Where the Boat Is. She does a fabulous job of styling it for the holidays and change of seasons.

Mr. Savvy certainly can build it since he has built four homes and has done a lot of the work himself. Now, if I can just get him to take a break from his car that he is restoring.

Maybe this year.

You can see more of my garden sheds pinterest board here.

  1. We have been tossing the same idea around, but Mr. Grand has ideas about storing lawn mowers and ugly things in there, and I have other ideas....
    Hope you get your wish!

  2. I would love to have a greenhouse so my green thumb can garden all year. I have to get honey to get through a bunch of other projects before this even makes the list. Hope you are having a great weekend.

  3. Beautiful inspiration photos, Kim. It would be fun to have another 'room' to play with eh? The saved windows sound like a great idea and a good start to your supplies too.

Mr WWH built one to house his riding mower and I get to use a small portion...Isn't that always the way.

  10. I have always wanted a green house. When I was in high school my boyfriend's dad had a beautiful one. He raised orchids and special Iris...they were beautiful! It looked a lot like the 2nd picture and was attached to the house. I hadn't thought of that in years!

  13. Hi Kim,

You deserve it! But, just to 'seal the deal', be extra sweet and keep bringing the hubby lots of his favourite drinks and snacks while he's restoring his baby!

  16. Kim, if you are looking to use as many of your windows as you can, Connie from Hartwood Roses built a greenhouse last year using a lot of old windows. Her greenhouse is on her sidebar, but don't read her current post. It will rip your heart out!

  17. I only have one question...can I borrow Mr. Savvy for awhile? You see, the hubs and I have the windows to build a greenhouse shed and an old '78 VW convertible to restore, but the hubs isn't at all enthused about either project...*sigh*

  23. I love them all, but Mary's is my favorite. Kinda partial to that one. Something else I would like to have is a gazebo. Definitely dreaming of that.

  25. I love my greenhouse built by my hubby using recycled materials. The windows are from old sliding glass doors and much of the wood from a garage we tore down, board by board, nail by nail. Also, here on the island, stands a greenhouse made from the home's old windows. It is gorgeous! That's what you should do, IMO :)

  33. I think a garden shed would be lovely, Kim! And you're lucky you can / are allowed to build one in your property. Our HOA has so many rules and I know we're not allowed to have structures like that in the property. Booooo!!! Anyway, good luck and have a great summer!
