Most Recent Project....the master

5.20.2013

In the last couple weeks I have been chugging along on the master bedroom. The walls were in bad shape and needed some TLC.

This is how the bedroom looked this past winter. All warm and snuggly.

Mr. Savvy snapped this when I was painting. I painted the walls one shade lighter from Davenport Tan to Alexandria Beige by Benjamin Moore Paints and it only took one coat, thank goodness.

Not a huge change and you probably wouldn't even notice it standing in the room if I didn't tell you.

Of course, when a big project is being done the other rooms in the house become a temporary dumping ground.

The mister had so much stuffed crammed in his armoire and I went through it and thinned a lot of it out before putting the room back together.

The carpet has been replaced and Mr. Savvy cut places in the old carpet and fixed our squeaking floor before the new carpet was installed. You can see the cut squares where he worked. If you follow me on facebook then you saw a peek at the new carpet. I was going to replace the carpet next year, but was able to nag talk him into it this year to go with the fresh paint job.

Here is a peek at my new lamps from Home Goods.

Summer bedding has been put back on the bed.

Art work has been switched.

I decided not to hang the cheap starburst mirror back over the bed. So I am on the hunt for something different and hopefully I will know when I see it.

More to come soon.

Do you have any projects going?

Have a super week!

  1. Can I say that you have an impressive ladder! I love the idea of painting a room one shade lighter. I'm going to borrow that trick. Your room looks so fresh and "summer". Can't wait for the full tour. Love the bedskirt, btw.

Projects for me... hahahahaha!!! We have been on HOLD over here.
We had an engagement... followed by a graduation w/ degree, followed by PreK graduation, followed by wedding, now today they are closing on their first home. So we have been 'nesting' for the kids... hunting and gathering . Shopping and storing. My garage is a MESS! But I am luving the whole starting from scratch thing.. I get to flex my decorating muscle!!
    Happy Monday.

  25. The paint color probably makes a difference to you, Kim. I know a change in paint color, subtle or big, makes a real difference to how I look at our rooms. A little freshening up is always nice. Your bedding looks lovely. Better to wait until you find that perfect piece rather than trying many "maybe" pieces.

  33. I'm just being nosey, after looking at this wonderful transformation of your bedroom.... what do you do with the items you change out? Do you have a lot of storage in your house, do you donate to Goodwill, give to a family member or sell it on a Craigslist type website? I used to change things out more often and found that my closets were always over-flowing. Now when I do change things I give them to Goodwill... yes, just being nosey.

    Love the new paint color!
