Kitchen Changes and Additions

6.24.2013

I hope your weekend was fun filled and awesome! I want to thank y'all for your wonderful comments regarding my Houzz tour shocking news. I still can't believe it.

Now, let's look at some minor changes in the kitchen.

The changes on top of my cabinets all started when I added this rooster sign to the farmhouse style guest room.

I was wanting to hang something above this old trunk and the rooster sign fit the bill so that left me with a weird gap where the rooster sign formerly resided in the kitchen.

No problem, I just decided to add my vintage scale collection that was scattered here and there. They say a collection makes a bigger impact if placed together. So bam!

I bought this cute little rooster lamp with burlap shade from Joss & Main a few months back. I love having little lamps on in the kitchen.

I found this cute little glass jar at The Gypsy Market in High Point, NC when I was there for the High Point Furniture Market. I thought I was going to use it for Bailey's dog treats, but it is perfect for the tea bags.

The top is has imperfections which gives it an aged look.

I'm still loving my French blue enamel vintage bread box and it is used daily.

I receive emails all the time asking where I got my bar stools. They are from World Market and they are still available on line at worldmarket.com.

And btw, the paint on the kitchen island cabinets is holding up beautifully.

I hope y'all have a fabulous week!

  16. This is why I come to your blog Kim. Kitchen scales aside (which I love, by the way) it never would have occurred to me to hang something so low over a nightstand. Yet just seeing it there, looking like it belongs, puts the idea in my head, and I know I'll use it eventually. And I love the idea of using the steamer trunk as a night stand too. I've pinned it because I know a certain someone (MIL) who has an old steamer trunk collecting dust in her basement. I'm hoping she will allow me to take it off her hands before long. And maybe I'll find the perfect sign to hang above it. :) Thanks for the inspiration, as always. Have a great day!

  27. I love the scales above your cabinets, Kim! I just finished off my tureen collection above our one section of cabinetry. I love your butter pedestal holding all your oils and things. I'd love to find something like that for mine. I think it would be easier to keep clean than what I am currently using.

  39. I must admit, I am in love with your kitchen! The colors, the cabinets, that glorious island! I really wish my kitchen was big enough for one of those! I've redesigned it in my head but that's probably as far as those plans will ever go LOL! I also am in love with that cow head! I've seen a few of them in other blogger's home but can't recall where they come from. I adore cows and this one is not too comical or country. Your scales look perfect on top of the cabinets! Thank you so much for sharing! Hugs, Leena

  42. I just love the fact that your new kitchen styling came about when you placed the Roosters sign to the newly updated Guest room! I shift & rearrange often--it is such an expressive outlet that doesn't cost money, but provides such satisfaction.
I LOVE your blog and your home. Your home features make me want to come for a visit, and your writing & shopping excursions make me wish I was your real-life friend. All of it combined reaffirm that there is a "southern girl" deep down inside this Midwestern Nana!
Congratulations on your well-deserved recognition on Houzz, Kim!
