New Sitting Room/Library Vignettes

7.08.2013

I know I have put off showing the sitting room with it's new paint color, but if the sun doesn't return soon I will never get decent pictures of the room. It all looks too gray. I was able to get some close ups of some vignette changes in here though so we will start with those and then hope for the sun to return.

The vaisselier (fancy French word for hutch) was filled with old books, plates, and silver, but I wanted to display some of my ironstone instead. All the white really brightens it up for summer, too, but it may stay this way. Who knows?
:)

This brass lamp from Restoration Hardware Outlet has landed in here now. It has moved from a guest room to the sun room and now here. Moving things around keeps things fresh.

I left this row of books on the bottom.

The others ended up here.

I want this room to feel like a cozy library where you can take a seat and grab a book and hang out.

Not that any of these books can be read unless you know German or Dutch or whatever else these are written in.

I changed out the vignette on top of the table with just a stack of books, cluster of grapes and a live ivy plant corralled together on the large silver tray.

The ivy is from Lowes and I just stuck the whole pot in this clay pot.

I just love the gray color and patina of these clay pots. They look like they have been around for years.

I added some moss I had on hand over the dirt in the plant to retain moisture a little longer just in case I forget to water it. Fingers crossed I don't kill it. I love how the plant adds some softness to the table and so far it is thriving.

I went to the Pottery Barn Outlet over the weekend and decided to get two blue pillow covers and switched out the green ones. Loving the blue with the patterned pillows and chocolate sofa.

I think the ironstone just pops against this gorgeous wood.

Here is a reminder of the way it looked before.

Have a fabulous week and I hope to see you back here tomorrow for the Top Three and the Wow party.

  4. I love white ironstone. It makes everything look crisp and new. I had to giggle at the Dutch and German comment. I have gotten grief from my family for having books that are pretty to look at but not suitable for reading.
I can't wait to see more from the outlet mall.

I want to chalk paint some of our pots in the same tones as your clay pot. I keep searching for inspiration online but have not jumped in and tried anything yet.

I love your vaisselier - original woodgrain is so handsome and appealing to me, especially when the white ironstone is placed against it. Very tasteful. :)
