This And That

7.06.2013

Happy Saturday! I hope you had a fabulous Fourth, us not so much. We had gobs of rain, but that's okay it made me get caught up on the ironing that I hate to do.

I'm a little late sharing something that I received a few weeks ago. The UPS man came with a box for me and I was trying to remember what the heck I had ordered. Then I figured I probably just forgot since I seem to forget things fairly often.

So I opened the box to see what it was and there was a card inside. The fine folks at Decor Steals/Antique Farmhouse sent me this bull oops cow plaque to thank me for sharing their site on my blog. Wow, what a nice surprise and they sure know what I like. Thank you so much!

Of course at first I walked around with it trying to find the best spot for it and I replaced the sheep painting here and put the sheep somewhere else.

I replaced the ironstone pitcher with this topiary that I found for a steal at HomeGoods. I placed it in another clay pot that I found at our local A & B outlet. I love these old French looking clay pots.

So, for now the vignette looks like this. Do you notice anything wrong with the walls in these pictures?

How about now? Yep, trying more paint samples out. I am so excited that the foyer, great room, and stairwell are going to get painted and not by me this time!! We have actually hired painters to come. After Mr. Savvy went up and down the ladder in the sitting room his back was bothering him pretty badly again so I told him he just can't do that anymore. Only problem is after painting the sitting room that has caused a bit of the domino effect. These walls are way too yellow and have to go. I know they don't look very yellow in the photos, but believe me they are.

Here are more paints painted on more walls and Miss Bailey's behind. The best way to choose the color is to paint it on different areas in different light and then see what looks best. Not that it makes it any easier.

Here is the rest of Bailey. She follows me around when I am trying to take pictures.

Here are more paint samples and she had to photo bomb here, too.

Of course she is mighty cute and don't know what I would do without my little companion.

Oh, and today I am going to meet up with my buddy, Shirley from Housepitality Designs to do a little shopping. She is in town this weekend and I can't wait to see her again.

Enjoy your Saturday!

  9. What a lovely surprise Kim....but as a farm girl, I think your "bull" has an udder. :) I think it is a cow with horns. And how nice is it that you are getting professional painters. I am at the point that I am going to have to stop climbing up and down the ladder as well.

  10. Have you looked at a paint color by Sherwin Williams called Stucco? It is a great neutral. I have it in several rooms. It was the easiest color that I chose for our place, and the irony here is that it is the only color I chose from a paint chip - not from painting a sample on the wall. Those colors on the wall drove me crazy. I spent so much money and time on wall samples, and they always left me second-guessing. Have fun. Love the new art. Also love the lamb.

  14. Lucky you to get a freebie from Décor Steals! Wish they would send me something. That bull plaque looks cute there. Regarding your paint, why don't you just paint your family room and hallway the same color as your kitchen? They are all open to each other and then it would have a continuous flow.

  18. You are so smart to paint a bit in different areas to see what it would look like in all lights and areas. I am starting to feel like I would like to paint downstairs but-like you-once you start it goes to more rooms than originally planned. Love Bailey's photo bombing. I think she is looking to go on TV! xo Diana

  23. Is that a sock Miss Bailey has gotten off with I see there on the floor in the background? Or perhaps, like me, when you take things out of the dryer, they end up like bread crumbs throughout the house. A sock here, a dish towel there... Love the bull plaque!

  29. I know what you're going through trying to pick a color for your foyer, great room and stairwell. It's not like you can change your mind if you don't like the color after painting since you're hiring painters. I'm sure you'll pick a wonderful color.
