New Farmhouse Style Lamp

8.08.2013

You know? They do it on purpose. I know they do. I know their little tricks. They know that we come to their store for a certain thing and BAM they have placed something we really didn't need right by the darn door as you walk in. And there it is and you gasp. Then you look at it and the price of it, which is awesome, and wonder should you or shouldn't you? And then BAM it goes in the cart!

Yep, this floor lamp was right by the door in HomeGoods saying Kim......over here. Cause everyone knows I have a slight lamp addiction.

Never mind that I was just going in to look at bath towels......NOT LAMPS!

It even has a cool color on the inside. When I bought it it also had a big white glass globe over the light bulb, but after I got it home I started unscrewing the first little screw that held the globe on and CRASH all over the kitchen floor. Glass was everywhere. That's o.k. I didn't like the globe anyway.

Now the lamp is happy in the guest room and it is was a bargain at $59.

While we are here in the guest room, a few weeks ago I tried out this painting over the bed and asked if you liked this over the bed or the cow art I made.?

The results were about 50 50, but the cow art won. I found a new spot for the other painting and will share that soon along with all the other changes that took place after painting the walls.

Yep, you know the stores put stuff right inside the door on purpose and don't tell me this hasn't happened to you. :)

  2. I love your cow art! I missed it previously.

  3. This happens to me all the time.

At the nearest HG all the lamps are right there by the door, as if they mysteriously know about my little lamp affliction! Those are the first aisles I browse, every time, whether I am there for a specific purpose or not...the lamps call me first and then, just a short walk from the lamps...dishes!!

I like the new lamp...perfect for your farmhouse guest room.

  10. Do you have a Home Goods, that is strictly a Home Goods store? Ours here in Asheville is part TJ MAXX and part Home Goods. When I lived in Naples, Fl there was a regular Home Goods Store.

Love that lamp...love the color inside. It is perfect in your room!

  14. There is just no way that you could have passed by that lamp! If I'd been there, we'd have been having a discussion! I'm looking for a lamp for beside the wing chair in the guest room - no luck. I'll have to go looking for something else and hope that a lamp jumps out at me.

  26. You KNOW that is a marketing strategy for sure. But your lamp is lovely! And I love the contrasting color on the inside. At least you HAVE a Homegoods to shop in...boy would I love to have one closer than 2 hours away!

  27. I didn't see the voting, but I would have voted for the cow over the bed also. I too have a lamp addiction. I don't even know why when I walk in a store I go over and scout them out, because I have NO more room for more lamps.

  29. Kim,
I love that lamp. I have a little addiction to Home Goods and TJ Maxx!!!!! I can never walk out of there without something I totally did not go in for!!! I love your guest room curtains in the buffalo check. Did you get those at Country Curtains? I have been looking for new curtains for my guest room.

  30. Shoot...you are lucky to get away with just a lamp.....I spent 350.00 at HG yesterday!!! Love that little beauty though:)

  31. Great find! We have an "over stock" of lamps here. In fact will take some to be consigned or sell in a garage sale soon. Running out of space! '-)

  36. Well, much better a lamp than a padded bra (which I know you don't need). I love that lamp and think it looks better with no globe, too. It seems when I walk into a store I find CANDY close to the door- NOT good. xo Diana

  37. Great lamp, Kim, and your cow looks right at home over the bed- good decision. :)

  38. That happens to me all the time. I think HG has a plan because every time I go that happens as soon as I walk in door WHAM right in fron of my face something I want to grab right away. It isn't even what I go there for either, just like you. It is a ploy, I tell ya.

  39. So Kim, the large glass globe was over the white globe part with the turquoise color inside, right? Man, that break was meant to happen - this is 100% cuter and I have been looking for one that was not $200 plus. Love your house, your taste, your blog and precious Miss Bailey, of course.
