The Foyer's New Look

8.15.2013

The other day I just whisked you right though the foyer to show you the great room. How rude of me. Let's backtrack and take a look at the foyer. After all it is the first thing you see when you enter through the front door.

I have actually changed the vignette on top of this chest a few times this summer. I did not hang the plates back up on both sides of the mirror. I told y'all several things did not go back after the painting was done. I am in less mode for now. For those new here you can find out how I refinished this sideboard here.

This is what it looked like last time I showed you in the spring. I am so glad this old paint color is gone.

I always get asked about this mirror. I bought it at a local design shop, but you can also find it on homedecorators.com.

I have a collection of these roe deer antlers and have purchased most of them on ebay from an antique dealer in Austria. I know some people love them and some don't. They are common in European decor.

I bought this plant back in May and it has done quite well. I stuck it in this urn that I have had.

This picture was hanging on the wall on the other side of the foyer, but it is another thing that found a new spot.

One of the majolica plates that was on the wall now holds a collection of keys.

Like my new lamp? I will be sharing more about it soon along with a giveaway.

This farm scene painting was on the stair landing over the bench, but ended up here in place of the two paintings  here before.

This little chair had been put away, but I decided to use it here and the old chair that was here moved to the green guest room.  The domino effect was in full swing after the walls were painted.

Both of these items were purchased last year with credit on Joss & Main.

See my two new prints?

I love these cow prints and they came up at the cheapest I have ever seen them on Antique Farmhouse several weeks ago.

Since I didn't place my demijohns and olive jars back on the top of the bookcases in the great room I was looking for a place to use them. This one ended up by the front door holding my cane collection. Some have been added to my hoarding storage room.

Well, we are back at the front door. Thanks so much for stopping by.

I hope you'll come back by tomorrow for another fabulous favorite room.

Guess I should mention the paint color again: Manchester Tan by Benjamin Moore paints

  4. Your mirror has always been one of my faves and it really pops against the Manchester Tan (hmmm ... Home Decorators? I'll have to take a peek). Love your new vignette and new prints by the stairs. But, I have to ask, in case I missed it ... where did my favorite piece of art of yours go (of the man)?

  21. As always, beautiful.

I was chatting with another blogger the other day about houses never being done and made the analogy that our houses are like the Golden Gate Bridge. Someone is painting on the bridge every week day of the year. I don't have as much change because I don't have as much room as you.

  22. I have always been a fan of your mirror and glad it is front and center.

  29. Love your foyer and table vignette. That mirror is wonderful. Love the majolica on either side too. Makes me wish my foyer could handle a console table, but it is all doors and no walls.

  32. It looks great Kim, the new paint color really brightens the place up and I never thought it was dark before. I have to say I do like the plates on the wall, but I am sure you don't want a bunch of holes in your new paint job.

I have had that mirror bookmarked since we moved in here and am asking for it for my birthday coming up on the 26th:) I like your "less look". 37. Your entryway looks so pretty, Kim. I took a trip back to revisit how you refinished the chest. The new color is great and makes it quite a focal point where it is. The farming picture is wonderful and the cow prints, as well. What a lovely entry!

  38. Looks fabulous Kim. Love that pretty plant too! Great roo pillow. Pretty soon your foyer will be getting fallified:)

  39. Kim- I think it is the painting that does it- when it looks so fresh, clean and bare it is hard to put everything back that you once had there. I go through spells of LOTS of stuff and then pare down to MUCH less. I think that is one of the bonuses of having a place to store stuff-you can change on a whim.

Your foyer looks just beautiful and I am loving the new color, too- xo Diana
