Fall Foyer 2013

9.15.2013

I know most of y'all have been decorating your homes for fall for some time now, but I just can't start adding it when it is hot and sticky outside. This weekend it finally started feeling like fall so I added a few fall touches in the foyer. I don't do a lot of over the top fall decor just mostly a few natural items added here and there to welcome the new season.

An idea popped in my head a couple weeks ago to fill this wire basket with little boo pumpkins and then stick my plant in the center of it. I ordered the pumpkins on line cheaper than I could buy them around here.

I love adding squirrels in my fall decor. I guess squirrels go together with fall since they are out gathering up nuts for their winter supply. I don't like the fact that they like to chew on our house.

I replaced the majolica plate with this oak leaf dish to place my keys in.

Such an easy way to switch up the look of a lamp just by changing the shade. I grabbed this Pottery Barn shade from my stash to replace the plain shade that came with the lamp.

You can see the way the lamp looked with the original shade here.

So just a few tweaks here and there by shopping my stash and buying boo pumpkins changed the look to fall.

Just past the foyer is this black bench and I added a large fall leaf pillow from Pottery Barn outlet to it.

That is about all the fall decor for now. When I get back from France I will start adding more.

You can see past fall foyer looks here and here.

I hope y'all have a super week!

  1. I love the fall pillow. I'm a Florida resident and I just have to keep fall limited until at least October. Leaves turn in January at my house.

  10. Your squirrel has its twin resting on our mantel. I have friends stopping over Tuesday, so I began my fall decorating. The past three days have been in the sixities and our red maple has shed some of its beauties. Fall has come to northeast Ohio.

  13. I haven't done any fall decorating yet. I usually wait until the leaves start to change at the end of September and leave it all up until the day after Thanksgiving, when I start decorating for Christmas.

I like your touches of fall.

  21. Very pretty Kim. I like the idea of the pumpkins in the wire bowl. I know what you mean about hot and sticky, it's still not very fallish around here.

  22. Love the details Kim, most especially the small pumpkins around the plant idea!!! I don't decorate for Fall at all (only Halloween), so you are so much better than me even with what you consider 'subtle', they look really beautiful! Thanks for the inspiration!

  33. I love how you started your fall decor and can't wait to see more. I too have had to put off decorating as 94 degrees isn't very fall like. But also am recovering from back surgery so I am limited as to what I can do. I will be decorating soon I hope.
