White Pumpkins in the Living Room {guest post}

9.23.2013

I have a special guest post for you today by my good friend Yvonne of Stone Gable blog. I was lucky to meet Yvonne at the Haven conference and she is such fun to be around. We even told her she came across as southern even though she is not southern at all. She was thrilled that we thought that. So take it away my friend.

Mixing rustic and luxe is on of my favorite decorating looks! Fall is the perfect time of year to to combine the organic elements of the season with the refined!

My living room is a combination of comfy relaxed neutrals and a traditional feel. Using the saturated color of fall would overwhelm it... so I am decorating with the softer side of Autumn.  White pumpkins, bleached out straw, white mums, white pottery and silver.

I used to decorate every surface with fall... now I use a much more reserved hand to bring the season inside StoneGable! Just a subtle touch is enough!

Like a mum in a polished champagne bucket. The addition of a pumpkin in a cloche makes it a little vignette. Not too much. Just a little bit of soft fall decor!

A small rustic greenhouse sits on my coffee table. This is the first fall I can fill it with pumpkins!

A small bail of straw was a lucky find! It is just right for the greenhouse!

The surprise elements in this organic vignette are the mercury glass candlesticks. Little BOO pumpkins top each candlestick. I love the look of rustic luxe!

I think these little pumpkins are adorable!

A couple of white pumpkins were added to my Pottery Barn Outlet white lanterns... and so was another mercury glass candlestick. I'll be adding more candlesticks... as soon as I can find them in the basement! Do you have that problem too? Somethings my basement is the "pit of no return"!

The coffee table hold the bulk of the fall decorations in the living room.

I made a NO SEW Burlap Wreath pillow in neutral colors for the sofa. Adding burlap to almost any decor adds lots of texture!

Check out the sidebar at StoneGable for the pillow tutorial... it's so easy!

I'm working on a second pillow and a simple white corn husk wreath to hang on the mirror. I should  be done both projects (maybe) by the end of the week.  Stop back to StoneGable to see the progress!

I hope fall is coming to your home too!

Thanks, Kim for inviting me to SAVVY SOUTHERN STYLE. You are not only one of my favorite bloggers, a sweet friend but you have such a generous spirit!

Thank you, Yvonne for filling in for me. Your living room is beautiful and I just love that tiny little hay bale you found. So cute!

I think most of my readers may already know Yvonne at Stone Gable, but if you don't please take a little time to go visit her blog.

Be sure to  return tomorrow for another guest blogger's favorite room in my weekly series.

I am on my way home today and will be back to my regular blogging soon!

  22. Fall is slowly making it's way into my home. You've created a very soft and elegant fall feeling and it is beautiful. It whispers the season rather than shouts it. I also know what you mean by the basement being the "pit" of no return.
