I know I just showed you where this sideboard moved to just two days ago, but I want to show y'all how my crazy mind works.
As I was just walking through the house, the same day that I shared this on my blog, I wanted to see if I could change this vignette up a bit and place my vintage balance here. This is how my mind works sometimes. Things just pop in my head and I start moving things around. I just can't help it.
I had tried this here before right after I got it, but it wasn't looking right with whatever I had on this sideboard at that time or so I thought. So then it ended up in the hallway off of the garage that I shared here. Excuse the shiny spots on the balance. That is where I had just put some scratch cover on and it hadn't dried. Oops.
I just moved the books over to the left and placed the preserved boxwood ball on a pedestal atop the books.
So the lantern was removed and replaced with the books and boxwood ball and the balance was placed in the middle where the books were. Got it?
So which way do you prefer the before on the left or the new look on the right?
My crazy inquiring mind wants to know.
Oh, and of course I had to come up with a new vignette on the chest that I took the balance from. Geesh
Tell me I am not the only crazy one that does this.
Have a fabulous Saturday!

Kim, Love the balance on the buffet. It brings in another element to your vignette-metallics. The boxwood ball on the pedestal works great too! Beautifully done as always!
ReplyDeleteNo your not crazy! I do the same thing everyday. It looks great.
ReplyDeleteKathy
Both look pretty...but I love the way your vintage scale looks on there.
ReplyDeleteThe new one is my favorite. I like the boxwood on the pedestal. I think the glass lantern competes somewhat with the pretty lamp.
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely not the only crazy one that does this........I just finished decorating my house for Winter,
ReplyDeletebut there will be many tweaks coming on.in the days to follow...........lol
Actually I love both vignettes so I couldn't decide, however, I do love the greenery ball on top of the candlestick, so guess that would be my choice, but they are both very balanced and eye catching.
Have a good weekend,
Blessings,
Nellie
Both are pretty, but I prefer the first. The wood of the scale and the wood of the frame seem a tiny bit too much wood. But if you decide to keep it, it still looks really pretty. I would have never thought about it at all unless you asked.
ReplyDeleteYou know I'm just as guilty of changing things around constantly. So, I don't think you're crazy! I like it both ways, but I honestly think the first way you had it looks best to me. I think it's because I like that black lantern balancing out the lamp on the other side better and the greenery in the middle looks better up against the old bread board. However, either way would work just fine.
ReplyDeleteYou asked, so I'll tell you..........the first one is better.....the scale is too delicate and thin compared to the other elements and doesn't show up as well. However, I do like the ball on the pedestal on top of the books......so, I am no help at all!!!! I do the same thing constantly and makes me crazy too!!!
ReplyDeleteBoth are beautiful but I prefer the second one. Some how the black lantern is too much with the black lamp shade.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the second one. Don't love the lantern now that you've changed it up (but didn't notice that I didn't love it until after you changed the vignette); however, I liked the boxwood sitting on the books in the first vignette without the candlestick better…but, I would have put it on a candle for height, too, just as you did. That's how my crazy mind works.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim....I like how your crazy mind works...always thinking with a creative eye...I like both ways, but I'm leaning towards the second one...
ReplyDeleteThey both are nice and I love that balance, but I prefer the first arrangement. Maybe it is just from the pictures, but the balance disappears and it is such a great pieces, it needs to stand out more.
ReplyDeleteKim, I am the same way!! I love both looks equally I think.. I personally love to change things up, so you go girl! I wonder what look number three will look like??! haha jk of course! xo Jen
ReplyDeleteyou said it, not us! :) I think I like the right side but both look good.
ReplyDeleteBoth look great, but I think I like the one on the left best. The books and greenery in the middle add substance, think the the scale gets lost with the brown backgrounds.
ReplyDeleteLove that scale!
Blessings,
Cindy
Oh, you're in good company here, Kim! I'm partial to #2, but since you're the one looking at it every day, I don't think you'll go wrong. :)

Oh Kim, certainly not crazy, just a crazy lady having fun! Like me! Well, I like them both, but my favorite is the first one. Oh go ahead leave it like you love it! Go have some more fun, I'll be back!

Kim,
ReplyDeleteYou are not crazy I do this all the time. I like the one to the right. It seems more open but they both look good. So it is a win win which ever way you chose to keep it.
Kris
New look on the right!!!
ReplyDeleteboth arrangements are very pretty but the first one looks like you see the dog picture a little better cant go wrong with either love your blog and i too like moving things around
ReplyDeleteNew look on the right! ...nothing against the one on the left but I like the smaller visual presence of the books with the boxwood on the candlestick. It's visually interesting without being heavy...I'm an asymmetric gal.
ReplyDeleteWhen I make changes, it takes several days for the changes to be finished. I walk through the house picking up things and moving them around.
ReplyDeleteI like the cabinet both ways, but the scale doesn't seem to "pop" out to me on the second vignette. It is such a cool piece, that I would like to see it as the stand out piece.
I like the pic on the right! I like the height of the different items you used.
ReplyDeleteYou are not the only one who changes things around.
Boy, that's a tough one! I think I like the one on the left a little better, but only because I feel that the balance doesn't stand out enough. But, I really like the boxwood ball on the pedestal. But it's really like splitting hairs, because they both do look good!
ReplyDeleteYou're not the only one. My mind works the same way!
ReplyDeleteBoth are pretty, but I prefer the one with the scale.
ReplyDeleteI like both, but my preference is the one on the left. The one on the right might be a bit too busy! I like you am constantly changing. You give me so many neat ideas and keep my mind spinning.
ReplyDeleteLove the new one....with the boxwood on top of the books!!!! I move things around several times, after I think I have everything in place. Something will just click and it becomes an "ah ha" moment for me.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing your vignettes! So much inspiration!
Sorry, should have read as "boxwood on top of the books to the left".
DeleteNot crazy at all. After carefully arranging things, I often walk by later and see that they would look better just slightly rearranged. Usually, that's an improvement just as your changes are.
ReplyDeleteWe can be "crazy" together (which is not unusual)…love the "after"…however, both vignettes were great…I have been doing that all weekend…taking away some holiday decor and trying to create new vignettes, moving things about way too many times!...
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely not crazy...cause if I thought you were, I'd have to think I was too! It's been so cold here...and I don't go out much when it's really cold...so I change things up...daily! I totally get it! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh Kim, that's exactly how my mind works too. I never thought of it as crazy though. In fact, I thought that that was the normal way to operate. Keep those change ups coming.
ReplyDeleteMuch better.
ReplyDeleteThe new look. I really like it and much more balanced. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI can't decide Kim,I like them both.Love that bread board!

I like the one on the right....Elaine
ReplyDeleteYou are not crazy. My husband never knows what is going to be in a different place/vignette. I don't know which I vignette I like. Does the brass scale stand out more in person? They both work. When you get tired of one change it to the other one. Easy peasy Paula
ReplyDeleteHonestly Kim, I like both but in love with your scale, so I go for the 2nd one!
