Simple Spring Mantel and New Addition

4.17.2014

My mantel has looked like this for weeks and I just haven't gotten around to sharing it. It is quite simple. I put away the trophies and preserved boxwood and the old books that were in the center for a cleaner look  for the hot months that will be here soon. There is also something new hanging above that I have had awhile.

It's my new much larger rack. I started to title this post "Want to See My New Rack?", but thought that might not sound right. :)

This baby is huge and much larger than the one I had there. When I spied this one on ebay and the price I jumped at it before it got sold. Plus free shipping from Austria was a big plus!

It has all this inscription on the back of the plaque, but of course it isn't in English. As you can see it dates back to 1910.

On each end of the mantel I have vintage vases filled with greenery.

The books in the center have been replaced with the vintage balance.

I can't wait till my hydrangea bush starts blooming again for some new dried blooms.

The other deer trophy has moved to a new location that I will share soon.

Be sure to come back tomorrow for a very cute cottage room in my favorite room series.

It's grocery shopping and then get the grays done in my hair day.
Oh, and it is my first born's birthday today. He is the big 35! Happy Birthday, Ryan!

Well, poo, I accidentally deleted my signature. Well, y'all know my name anyway.
Have a good one!

  3. I like the simple Spring look…very pretty! Your new rack is a great addition, apparently it was a wedding gift: Keepsake of the wedding on November 8th, 1910 ( sorry,I'm not able to make out the town). Happy Easter, Kim!

  21. I read about your kitchen accident and stitches earlier. I"m so sorry. Hope you are doing better today. As I've gotten older I've realized that I'm getting little cuts and burns more often in the kitchen. They are never serious but just a nuisance.

  25. Kim,
Your mantel is refreshing with its pared down look.

Congratulations on not only being in the new French Country magazine, but ON THE COVER! As soon as I saw the magazine, I recognized your beautiful dining room with its painted French china cabinet. The whole article is so nice with several photos of the rooms in your house. Just beautiful.
