Lucketts Part Two.....the market

5.22.2014

There was a bit of a mix up as to what time the Lucketts market opened and let's just say we got a really good parking place when several hours later there was no parking and the traffic was bumper to bumper for over five miles. We rode right by it as we left to got eat lunch in town. Good thing we were through because there was no getting back before they closed at 5.

I took plenty of pics before and during the market. Shirley and I also arrived a bit early thinking that we would get to join some other bloggers to tour the Design House before it opened to the public, but since our name wasn't on the list, since I did not know about the sign up thing, we weren't getting in we were told.
I found that a bit harsh to tell two bloggers who traveled many many miles to get there plus we got up really early to get to this on time that they couldn't get in unless our name was on this list. Oh, well, no problem we toured it later and it wasn't that bad.

The first few photos are of buildings on the property that are outside the market area that I walked around and took some shots of.

How about a nap on this truck? After standing for over two hours this looked pretty good.

The vendors were setting up and this stand was popping a bunch of popcorn and that is all we smelled while we waited.

More of the buildings on the property.

This would make a cute pot rack.

This one, too. I would have gotten this one probably if I didn't already have the one I just got.

After walking around and taking some shots the line was forming to get in. The place was one big wet muddy mess from the five inches of rain on Thursday.

Our hubbies were troopers and I would not have been able to go if Mr. Savvy had not gone with me. Oh, and he was just holding the camera for me for a bit. He has no clue how to use it. I took this with my phone. I see Shirley was texting on hers.

The gate opened and everyone made a bee line for Marian aka Miss Mustard Seed's booth.

Hay had been spread in all the really wet spots.

Hey, Dude I'm not taking your picture.

This was my blogging pal Kristen's booth. She had some beautiful things.

Love these beautiful doors.

How about a wall of doors and shutters?

It was fun having some blog readers come up and tell me they read my blog. It was so nice meeting them.

I shared day one and some shots of my loot dumped in the house (and it is still there) here.

Another fabulous favorite room here tomorrow.

  4. How disappointing to not be able to get in the house, but it sounds like you were flexible and rolled with it. Everything looks so exciting and festive. It must have been worth that long, rainy drive!

  7. We had a great time too and loved meeting fellow bloggers. I have to agree though as we have been to Luckett's a few times and I love the store but the staff always seem pissed off. Something in the air?

  8. If you go next year I'll be there! LOVE seeing all the booths and the great "stuff". I see the frames I bought for my dining room wall! Great post Kim! Looks like you had a great time!

  9. Thanks for sharing your great photos with us. It is unfortunate that the staff was a little less than accommodating!

  12. Thanks to you and your blog I now know what Lucketts is!!! My heart beats faster just thinking about the possibilities. One question, how are the prices at this fabulous sale? Good? Typical? Average?

  14. Luckett's is now officially on my bucket list! What I would really like to do is just travel, with a trailer in tow, on back roads, through small towns, stopping at yard sale and flea markets and small shops and filling the trailer full of treasures! Want to join me? Glad you had a good time despite the early arrival and not being on the list.

  15. Oh, I would love to find a whole wall of doors. I have been looking for an old door, but the only ones I find are close to $1000. A lot of people in my area have tons of money and like to tell how much money they spent on something. I like to say how little I spend.

  20. Those doors are amazing.. They were worth the eleven hour drive, I guess! Thanks for sharing. I read a lot on blogs about that event, but of course, I'll never go, so I enjoy the pictures you took!

  21. Great pictures.
I went to Lucketts last year with my mom and we had a good time. I wanted to go this year but she couldn't and my husband wouldn't. After hearing stories of the mud and parking issues I'm kind of glad I didn't venture out by myself.
I can't believe they wouldn't let you in the house. To be honest I really don't see what the big deal is about the design house. I enjoy the venders over the house.
Glad you had a good time.

I can't believe they didn't let you in the design house either...geez. Thanks so much for sharing a pic of my booth... I don't think I got very many pics of it myself. It was so good to see you and Shirley there:)
