Vintage French Items in My Home

5.25.2014

This month in our monthly group series all about French Country Style we are sharing vintage French items. Do I have any vintage French items? I do believe so. Most of these you have seen before if you have been following me for awhile and I do have a couple new things, too.

We will start in the foyer where I have this huge very very old walnut buffet that I purchased in Normandy last fall. On top is one of my demijohns that I collect.

This chandelier is not French, but is a reproduction and I love how it completely changed my dining room when we added it. You can see the original post about the change here.

My favorite antique is this French hutch known as a vassielier in the sitting room , but was not purchased in France, but at a local store.

Vintage scale that I found in a pile of junk in a Normandy flea market.

I spied this very old table in the same shop in France where I found my farm table. I had passed it by on the first stop and then decided it needed to be mine when we went back to purchase the farm table.

And speaking of the farm table it is truly a favorite French item.

This is a set of vintage French books bound in leather. These can be pretty pricey over here, but I got the nine for 45 euros which is around $62.

I love the color of these very old and hard to find pharmacy bottles that are in my master bath.

I love collecting these old French enamelware address signs. This one I attached to a basket that holds some bread boards in my kitchen.

I have a couple enamelware pitchers that I found in shops here, but this one I ordered from France from Cat's monthly sale that is on the first of each month.

And one of my most recent finds is this primitive hay fork that I found at Rust & Feathers in Leesburg, Va. when we went to Lucketts Market last weekend. The other one is in another room. I may hang them together later, but still deciding what I want to do.

I think we will stop here and I sure hope you will check out the other gal's vintage French items.

  12. Kim the patina of the wood on your French pieces looks like satin, those are the kind of pieces that I have to touch and run my hand across when I see them in antique stores. You have a wonderful collection that has enhanced your home beautifully.
    Happy Sunday,

  13. There are many items in my house that remind me of wonderful afternoons in French and Belgian flea markets. I think it's time to go back, though a visit isn't like living there. It was lovely to be able to consider and item, and go back a week later, or search other small towns for something similar. Ah well - a visit would be nice too!
