A Lucketts Fair Find

6.19.2014

When we attended the Lucketts Fair a few weeks ago I had no idea that I would find something I had been looking for for quite some time and at a great price.

I have been wanting some old boot forms to use decoratively in my sitting room that has a bit of an equestrian vibe going.

I especially wanted them to have these handles at the top

and this gorgeous patina.

What I didn't know is that they would come apart like a puzzle.

And because they come apart very easily is why I am setting them on the floor in front of the sofa.

I had wanted to place them up on the vassilier, but unless I glue them together they will fall off and break things.

My photo bomber sniffed them over real good and now just leaves them alone.

She would rather just sit and look out the window.

The vignette on this table shelf has been tweaked just a bit.

I think the boot forms will do where they are for now.

This isn't the first time I have brought something home that didn't quite work out like I had pictured in my mind and probably won't be the last.

Do you do that?

I hope y'all will return tomorrow for another fabulous favorite room.

  7. I love the boot forms, Kim. Now my head is spinning with ideas for them. I have brought home a lot of things that I just don't know what to do with them. Most of the times, they end up in the playroom. Miss Bailey is identical to our Delilah. Seeing her picture reminds me that Delilah needs a haircut.

  9. Great find and they are perfect for this room! If you're not quite sure about glueing them, you could try strapping them together with an old leather belt, maybe one that looks like part of an equestrian attire. Either way they are fabulous!!

  13. The boot forms are really neat and look great in your room. The room is perfect! I've never seen boot forms in person, so it was interesting to see that they come apart like they do.

  14. Those are perfect in your front sitting room! They should've had a tag hanging off of them that read, "waiting for Kim". LOL! I like them on the floor since they have some height to them.

  17. Those are perfect for an "equestrian vibe" sitting room. By the sofa is perfect. As for something not going as I see it in my head...that would be just about everything for me. Somehow I just can't get things out of my head and make it reality.

  18. Yes! I did that yesterday! Bought this thing that looks like a shepherd's hook/walking stick with a basket woven around it... I assumed for gathering berries or flowers. Brought it home and realized it doesn't look right where I wanted to put it and I can't for the life of me think of another place. So, it's in my closet looking completely out of place!

  19. I think these are pretty neat. I have purchased things over the years that I had a plan for and they didn't work out. When that happens I tend to get very frustrated.

  21. I like the boot forms. Those are most unusual, and the "puzzle-ness" of them makes them fun. But I can totally understand why you would not want to put them up high. They look great in front of the sofa, but if you really wanted them up high, could you tie fishing line around them at some point to hold them together (and the line would not be very visible)? My bring-home problems are always lamps. I can't tell you how many I have purchased and returned. And the one I bought the other day for the porch, is one I returned after it didn't work in the room over the garage. Yes, they probably hate to see me buying lamps at Target. :)

  24. No way...I have been looking for a pair of boot forms like yours for years. I found one pair but they were priced way more than I wanted to pay. Love them! They look great in your room. If you every want to get rid of them I would love to take them off of your hands for ya.

  26. Well, I did not know these forms existed, so I am loving the fact that you have been looking for them a long time. Of course I think things will work out in my mind, and not always so in real life. I do like the forms and am sure that you will continue to move them all over your house :)
