Do You Own One?

7.22.2014

It's National Hammock Day, but I can't go out to enjoy relaxing on the hammock since it is raining here today. I do love to hang out on our hammock when the weather is a bit cool and crisp unlike the very humid days we have now. Those cooler days will be here before we know it. How is it almost the end of July?

I was going to set up the hammock and style it differently, but the weather stopped that so I am using these old photos from 2012.

Do you own a hammock and do you use it? Ours tends to be not used more than used.

Have a relaxing day and I hope to see you back here tonight for Wow Us Wednesdays!

  1. I have always wanted a hammock, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't get used here much, either. I'm not very good at sitting still :) Would be great for styling blog shoots, though! Now if I could just get a pretty pond like yours for a background!

  2. We had one years ago that lasted a few years. Like yours, ours was not used more than it was used...I don't know why, because it's so relaxing to just nap it a hammock on a cool spring or fall day. Your hammock is beautifully styled in the pic, and I'm sure a new style would have been just as pretty.

  3. Oh Kim, we are on the Texas Gulf Coast and I can hardly wait for the heat, humidity, and mosquitoes to GO AWAY!! Then maybe I can enjoy a hammock.

  4. Kim,
Oh your hammock looks so inviting and restful. I bet it is wonderful on a cooler day to be out there for reading or a nap. Lovely spot for a hammock too.

  5. I'm so glad you posted this today. I don't have a hammock, but I seriously want one. Quick question, though. I noticed it was hooked to the tree. Was this difficult to do? Did it harm the tree in any way? I have the perfect spot, but I'm a little worried it might compromise the tree.

    1. Suzanne, we screwed in those hooks years ago. I believe they came with the hammock and it has not harmed the trees.

  6. I don't own a hammock; though I did enjoy using a hammock as a child. I loved it!
I can't believe where the time has gone this summer either. It really is flying by.
    Have a beautiful day.
    Blessings, Catherine

  8. The thunderclouds are rolling in here, so no hammock today. My son has a durable camping ENO hammock, but I prefer the pretty ones you've shown!

  9. We used to have one and a hammock swing, but our rainy summer last year did them in! My girls have ENO hammocks and love them.

  10. When we had a hammock we used it all the time. Now I have no time to even relax. LOL

  11. Hi Kim, I just love your hammock. I wish I had one but I believe my trees are to far apart? It is beautiful here in PA, it sure would be nice to relax in after my yard work.:)

  12. OOhh how I miss my hammock. Well we still have it, but the tree it hung on, one of them died due to a blight and had to be removed. I guess I will have to look into a stand of some sort. WE bought ours on a trip to Mexico a few years ago. But we only used it on the Spring and Fall. Summer is way too hot and unpredictable here in North Central Florida.
    Yours look so inviting Kim.

  13. Dear Kim,
what a wonderful setting and so beautiful and charming pictures. To bad it's raining (as here in Austria)! I always love your posts! The grain sacks are sooooo beautiful!
All my best from Austria and a happy happy time

  14. Don't have one, but if I had yours, which is very comfy and cool looking and hanging in the perfect spot, right by the pond, you can bet, I'd be floating on it all the time!

  15. Nothing more inviting than a hammock - and yours looks spectacular. Our neighbors have one in a clearing in the woods between our houses, just for "show," and luckily we get a little glimpse of a corner of it. Simple summer pleasure! Jane

  21. We used to have a hammock. We rarely used it. Don't think we will get another one, Too big for our porch and we don't have two trees close enough to hang them between. Now if I had a beach house with a porch on the beach side, you better believe I would have a hammock there! lol

  22. We have one in the yard between oak trees and do use it! When my children were babies I'd take a nap with them asleep on my chest in the hammock. I miss those days as they're all grown up now.
