Antiquing in Destin Part I

8.26.2014

If you followed me on Instagram last week then you saw some of the photos I am about to share with you. I waited until the last day of vacation to venture out shopping. I had had more than enough sun by that time and hubby had, too. All of these photos were taken with my iphone and edited in IPiccy.com.

This was almost right when I walked in the door and turned left past the cash register area. This unit was huge and filled with unmarked Giraud Limoges china. I took a pic of the price list, but did not buy any. I knew I was in for a treat in this store as soon as I saw all this.

Grand old mirror. I could have shopped in here for hours, but Mr. Savvy stayed out in the car while I shopped and that makes me feel kind of rushed.

They were unloading a container from southern France while I was there. This place was full of everything I love, but with price tags out of my league. In fact most stuff was not marked and I had to ask.

I kind of wish I had bought these. They are so unique and definitely a conversation piece. I can't remember how much, but I remember they weren't high and I could have gotten them.

Love this very long bamboo and cane bench. Dang, it wouldn't fit in the SUV,

Check out the huge window behind the bench. Sorry blurred shot.

Another grand gorgeous mirror.

Wish I had a big wall for this ginormous clock. What is the appeal of a big clock?

Next time I will share even more amazing French antiques. This shop is called Antiques On Holiday. It is a shop on Holiday road right past Smith's Antiques. Not as much good stuff in Smith's. I felt like I was back shopping in France at Antiques On Holiday.

Do you have any shopping trips or new finds to share? I hope you will come back tonight and share on Wow Us Wednesdays and anything else you want to share.

See you there!

  4. Love the Destin area and it's the county where my Dad's family is from. I'll check out this store next time I'm there.
Don't you just hate it when the hubs waits in the car?
"Take your time." . . . "yeah, right."

  5. Oh Kim, I was there at the end of May when my family stayed at the Surf Side. I LOVE LOVE LOVED this shop.... I spend a good hour in there and could have stayed longer. It was almost a magical feeling place. The cabinet that had all the ironstone was gorgeous in itself.... I miss this place.... I miss Destin... :(. Thank you for taking pictures.... now I can see the memories that I cherish about that place... when I went I was too busy drooling to take a pic. :) (upcycleaddict.net)

  6. I love that window! Clocks don't hold much appeal for me. We don't have a single one hanging in our home LOL!! I don't like to shop on vacation - other than antiques. Hubby is as much into it as I am so we always hit the places when we are on a trip. In fact, we take alot of day trips just to antique. We are going to Alabama next month for a week and will be checking out the shops in the area.

  8. What a fantastic store! Would be hard to leave there empty handed. Too bad it was so expensive, but I can see why since it's all authentic French items.

  14. I think we have all had one of those shopping trips where we wish we had bought something we didn't. I wonder if you could contact the store and buy them? Worth a try. I love the big clock too! I'm gonna try to get my husband to help me make one from a pallet.

  17. Kim,
It looks pretty cool in this shop. I loved shopping along with you. Those mirrors are gorgeous. I love that big clock too. What is it about big clocks anyways???? I agree they have a great appeal.

  18. What a great place. Sometimes when I go to stores like this I am a bit disappointed that many prices are high. Love to look anyway but more fun when there are a few things to grab.

  22. I love those mirrors especially the first one! I am not sure what the appeal of a big clock is. It's not like we don't have a jillion ways to tell time these days but you just gotta love them!

  23. It's been a couple of years since I visited Destin, but when we were there, there were several wonderful antique malls...you sort of had to go find them, as they were not on the main roads. This one has some beautiful things- too bad the prices were so high. That long bench is a great looking piece.

  25. I noticed so many cute interior design stores when I was in Destin this summer. I had every intention of stopping, but my three boys and husband had different ideas. Next summer I will be stopping for sure!
