Normally our yard doesn't look so good in August, but this year it actually does. With some much needed rain on and off for the last week it is looking better. It has taken much longer for our yard to finally look healthy after the cold hard winter we had. We have a lawn company adding the right fertilizers and herbacides to our front yard since what we were doing ourselves was not working. We have invested too much hard work and money into this yard to just let it go. Here are some shots I took after cutting the grass.
I love when our crepe myrtles are in full bloom.
I would love to cut these and bring them in if they weren't so darn messy.
Monkey grass/lirope is in full bloom.
I'm so glad to see these crepe myrtles blooming this year. Last year they did poorly.
This pot of petunias on the front porch was not looking so good a few weeks ago so I cut them all the way back and now they are looking fine.
Well, that's it for this yard tour.
I hope you come back tonight and share your yard or anything else at Wow tonight.
See y'all there!

ReplyDeleteMy crape myrtles only do well every other year or so, too, and I have never been able to figure out why. Yours are gorgeous this year! Thanks for the tip, I'm going out to prune my petunias right now. Something about 104 degrees that they don't like :)

ReplyDeleteYour August yard is lovely.
ReplyDeleteLovely blooms and yard...that one shot with the big tree in the background...my immediate thought was that if I was a kid that tree looked perfect for climbing! :)
ReplyDeleteYour yard looks great! It's so hard to keep a yard and planted pots going well in our southern heat. We finally got some rain over the weekend-- it's made a big difference in our yard. Marsha in Alabama
ReplyDeleteYour yard looks lovely. I love the crepe myrtle!! This was not a good season for me and my flowers. I don't know why all the flowering vinca didn't make it The wave petunia's didn't do so well either but, they are hanging in there.
ReplyDeleteEverything is looking great Kim. Petunias have a tendency to get leggy by August. When I plant them I do the same thing.

Kim your yard is gorgeous! The edging is so nice and clean too! Our grass is turning brown,it does this time of the year.We have water restrictions :-(
ReplyDeleteYour yard is as beautiful as the inside of your gorgeous home. Those pink crepe myrtles are amazing! Glad the petunias came back. My hanging plant out front isn't looking good, maybe I will cut it back. But then I keep thinking I will be decorating for Fall soon:):)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiufl yard, so colorful!
ReplyDeleteYour yard looks wonderful our crape Myrtle didn't survive the winter and I am really missing if this August. Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteKim your property is beautiful and those Crepe Myrtles are such a compliment to your gardens!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the petunias. I actually found a website (name escapes me at this moment) that advised to prune petunias back by a third a few times during the season to keep them full and by your account pruning does work. Thank you for sharing the eye candy!
Your gardens look fabulous. Wonderful colors and beautiful flowers and planters. Too cold for crepe myrtle up here. So nice to have something that flowers in August!
ReplyDeleteOh, how beautiful, Kim. Our mophead hydrangeas didn't bloom, thanks to the Polar Vortex, but the oak leaf variety has never been prettier.
