First Day of Vacay

8.23.2014

Hello y'all. I hope y'all are starting off the weekend either relaxing or doing something fun. We are so glad to be back home. Our week in Florida was great and much needed, but it is always good to return home. I have all the fun stuff to do like laundry, grass cutting and a much needed mani/pedi before we go to my niece's wedding tonight.

I took tons of pictures while we were away and I know many of you kept up with the few shots on instagram. I am sharing our first day of vacation which was a few hours spent at my dad's.

My dad has been living in Destin for several years. He and my late step mother built this home on the bay a few years ago.

My dad lives all alone with these two sweet boys of his that keep him company. This one is Salty.

This is Casper. At least I think I have the names right. They are both Westies.

This is my dad's dock where he has a fishing boat and a Sea Doo.

Daddy is trying to untie the boat so we could go out on a little ride across the bay.

My son in law trying to help out.

This was Leila's first boat ride and she was so excited.

Mr. Savvy a.k.a. Granddad is ready to go, too.

We rode over to Sandestin to Baytowne Warf and looked at the big boats docked.

We got back and tied the boat back up and walked back to the house.

We visited a bit and snapped some family shots. I love this photo of my dad and daughter.

Then me, Dad, and Mr. Savvy.

After saying good bye to my dad we headed back to the condo, but stopped for lunch first at my dad's favorite restaurant, The Back Porch. I was hoping he would go with us, but he was worn out from our boating trip and visit.

If you go to Destin I highly recommend this restaurant.

It's all open air and had the best ocean breeze blowing through. I have never gotten hot eating here. This was our view from our table.

We had super good food and a great day. After leaving here it was back to the condo and some pool time.

Well, I have a ton more pics to edit, but I have laundry calling my name and a wedding to attend this evening.

Happy Saturday!

  29. Beautiful photos of an amazing place and your dad's home is gorgeous. Don't you just love the Emerald Coast? I first started going to Destin in 1979 when it was nothing more than a sleepy little village. It's still a favorite destination, even though it is overrun with tourists these days.
