My Everyday Go To Beauty Products

8.03.2014

I get asked all the time what my beauty products are that I use. Not saying I'm beautiful by any means and I will say I have been blessed with very good genes and the aging process has been slow. Thank goodness!

I have been washing my face every night with this for years. I use to have bad breakouts and this plus changing my makeup really helped. When I was a teen and into my twenties I went to a dermatologist for my breakouts. When my daughter got married the makeup guy who was doing my makeup said the fact that I have oily skin, even with the breakouts for years, is what has kept my skin looking young. So all those years I cursed the breakouts they ended up not being a bad thing.

Oh, and before I wash my face I take off my eye makeup with good ole Vaseline. Always have. No need for expensive eye makeup removers. I have tried them and don't like them.

This is my night cream that I started using probably a few months ago. I was using their other night time moisturizer, but thought I would try this one out since it does more and I need all the help I can get. I swear by RoC products. I have been using them for probably ten years and when I switch to try something else I come back to RoC.

This is my day time moisturizer and it has an SPF too to protect from sun damage. I already have a lot of sun damage from being a sun worshiper in my younger days. I was one of those who lathered myself up with a concoction of baby oil and iodine and would even get on the roof to get more sun. How many of y'all are around my age and did that too? Yes, dumb, I know.

I use Eucerin body lotion day and night as recommended by my dermatologist.

This is my go to sunscreen except with a higher SPF when I work in the yard or go to the beach like I will be in a couple weeks.

Every night I put this on my lips before I go to sleep.

So those are my daily products and I have never had any Botox or anything else done. I did have an appointment last year to get some Botox done to my forehead where my deepest lines are, but I cancelled it. Who knows, I may do it some day.

  1. At La Tech in the eighties, the roof at Kidd dorm was the hottest and best sun worshiping spot on compus! Now for me I am a Rodan and Fields girl and use mostly the reverse aging line. I guess because of all those years on that roof! Let me know if that forehead wrinkle treatment with botox works, I think it is only a temporary fix though, six months?

  5. You use a lot of different products than I do. I never thought of using vaseline to take eye make up off. It doesn't leave you with a greasy residue on your lashes? I have always had dry skin on my face, so have been using moisturizers on it since my 20's. (I guess I have mom's skin.) Well your face always looks good to me, so these products must be doing their job! I never knew you once thought about Botox! OMG!

  6. Thanks for sharing this, Kim! I always enjoy hearing about different beauty products. I use a retinol cream too and really do think they help. I have oily skin as well and have always been told I'll appreciate it when I'm older because of how it helps your skin. High humidity is supposed to be a good thing too. Guess it's good I live in Texas. :)

  8. I like ROC products. My mom started me very young using Clinique products and although I don't use as many of them now, that helped my skin stay in good condition. Never dealt with acne, but my skin is drier now than it used to be. I use a ROC day moisturizer and a different one at night. I also use their eye cream. I always use sunscreen. THE ROOF???!!! That cracked me up! I do love Clinique eye makeup remover and use that or cetaphil cleanser (which I clean my face with) works well too. I have been told two things really age a woman (and I always notice now!) and that is the neck and hands - so take care of those too Sunscreen on hands is a must!

  9. When I was 7 or 8 years old, I had crusty eyelids/eyelashes every morning when I woke up. Our doctor told me to rub my eyelids/eyelashes with a thin smear of Vaseline every night before bed. It completely cured the "granulated eyelids" and has kept my eyes almost wrinkle free for over 50 years. Believe me, ladies-it works!

  10. I'm a ROC gal, too. Love their day moisturizer. The only thing I use to wash my face and remove makeup is good ole' cold cream. I have very fair, dry skin which is probably not going to bode well in the aging process. I'd love to try a little botox, but it makes me nervous!! You look fabulous!

  13. I am going to try some of the ROC products. Thanks for the recomendation. I have started to be very careful about being in the sun. I was a hige sun worshipper, yup used the baby oil and iodine too. UGH. Now I use the fake tanner and must say do a pretty good job:):) Hope you had a great weekend, Kim.

  15. I'll have to better you one on the roof tanning. We used to use actual Crisco for tanning!! OMG can't believe we did that but it was all we had back then. I too have oily skin. I've been told I look at least 10 years younger than I am and I'm your age. With all of the sun damage I've done to my skin, I'm happy with that and hope it continues. I've been using Philosophy products for a while now and I'm happy with them. You look fab! Amy

  16. Oh, yes, Kim, I totally remember the baby oil and iodine thing. And aluminum foil to help it along! I, too, had oily skin as a teen, and it's a blessing now!

  17. Baby oil, iodine and either the roof or on the hot, black trampoline with the sprinkler going. I use a lot of the same products you do and am thankful they work. My skin is still a little oily at times but I'm not complaining. I'm two months away from the big 5-0 and just last week someone at work thought I was 35, 36. Gosh, what a good day that was!

    1. Never did the trampoline since we didn't have one. I know that made you feel so good when they thought you were that young. I will be 59 in September. :)

  18. You are a beautiful woman Kim, glad to know your beauty 'secrets'. I used to use Neutrogena sunblock too but since I switch toe Garnier BB cream, did not need as much sunblock anymore. At night I love using Rose lip balm from Sephora. :-)

  19. You look fabulous! I love ROC products, too. I also have oily skin, and, except for lines on my forehead my skin is doing fairly well. Your (darling) hairstyle covers any wrinkles on yours.
