Layering

9.04.2014

With fall quickly approaching I start thinking about layering. We start adding layers with what we wear, but I also like adding layers in my decor.

It isn't anywhere near cool enough here to start dressing in layers, but I have added a layer in the sitting room with this wonderful new rug from Rug Studio

Rug Studio contacted me a couple months ago asking if I would like to choose a new rug. I looked at their site and was impressed with how many great brands and choices they offered. Dash & Albert is a brand I have bought several times and I was thrilled to find this one that I have had my eye on for awhile. This is the new Bunny Williams line and y'all know I love plaid.

If it looks familiar to you it could be because of this runner I shared in my kitchen recently. See I told y'all I love plaid and this line.

I chose the oak color for this room and love how it looks. The rug was shipped quickly, too. I am not one who likes to wait. :)

The new plaid rug is not thick so I just layered it on top of the wool rug I already had down in here. This just adds a cozy layer for the upcoming cooler seasons. I ordered one size smaller than the original rug to purposely layer them.

I also swapped out the pillows again and there is one more change I made.
I'm curious who can tell me what else I changed?

Thanks, Rug Studio for the new rug!
They are offering 20% off all rugs with their extended Labor Day sale so don't miss out and shipping is always free.

I was gifted the rug, but all opinions are my own.

Have a great day!

  2. Your wool rug is one of my favorites! I love layering rugs too and have been thinking about using one of my smaller Turkish rugs over my jute rug for winter. Now that is awesome having a rug company send a rug to you:-) Is that Mr. Savvy's recliner??

  5. We're thinking alike again Kim...I just ordered another jute rug to put under the Kilim one I have in my sitting room. I love your new rug and of course I spotted the other change...you added the corbels under your pictures ;-) very pretty!!

  6. Your rug look beautiful. You took two of the pictures down and put up your new purchases. I love the way your room looks. That is what I have a problem with. I try to layer and somehow I don't know when to stop and instead of looking layered - it looks crowded.

    1. Yes, I changed the gallery wall, but the corbels are not new. Pulled them out of my stash.

  7. How very clever to layer the plaid over the floral with just the edges showing. So nice for fall.
And I am coveting the red plaid kitchen runner. I think I need that in my life :)

  8. Nice texture on those rugs, Kim. I'm thinking of putting a runner in front of my newly organized wall of tubs in the basement, lol. Is it the demijohn bottle on the floor that's new? The amber looks good against the layers on the floor. :)

  11. I love the kitchen runner! But, in my house/kitchen, it would have drips and drops on it in no time! Are they washable?

    1. No, it's jute so not washable. Can be spot cleaned or turned over.

  23. The new rug and the kitchen runner are both very pretty and add a special touch to the layering of Fall. I'm sure you will get cooler before we do here in AZ. At least we may get some rain and temps only in the 90's this weekend -- if the weather guessers have guessed correctly!

  30. Love the tips Kim! I agree, Fall is the best time to start layering on everything, although where I'm from, it's still too hot to do so, hopefully soon, things will start cooling off a bit!
