My New Bird

9.09.2014

Meet big bird. No, not that big yellow bird on Sesame Street, but my new beautiful pelican.

I haven't ever told y'all the story of when I was basking in the sun in Florida on an all ladies' trip many many years ago and a flock of pelicans flew over and let out a load which landed on my face and near my mouth! I will never forget it. I quickly jumped in the pool to get it off!! The smell of fish was very strong. So not sure why I think this bird is so grand.

Oh, and back to this huge piece of art. I bought this with my credits on Joss & Main and then it dawned on me that it never came. I looked it up and there was no record of it on my account, but I knew I had ordered one of these. I emailed them and they quickly got back with me and dug deeper and next thing I know it was being shipped. So glad I wasn't going crazy like I was beginning to think.

More changes in here will be shared soon.

Have you gotten anything new or made any changes? I hope you will come back tonight and share them at Wow Us Wednesdays

See y'all there!

  1. Love your big ol' pelican! He's gorgeous and makes a nice statement, even though he might remind you of your "pelican incident".. Isn't being pooped on by a bird supposed to be good luck? LOL

  5. Wow, he is definitely a big, pretty bird!....I had a similar experience with a pelican!...but rather than the "present from the sky" being on me....it landed in my plate of food on the picnic table!...Guess he did not want me to eat my lunch!...love the painting!

  8. What a beautiful print! You are lucky that they were able to help you. I ordered dishes from J&M. The purchase went through on a credit card that I use for online purchases only. It had been compromised so I had the card re-issued. J&M tried using the card during that time period and were denied. They never sent me an email advising me of the trouble. When I realized quite a while later that I still didn't have my dishes I emailed them. They basically told me tough luck. My order had been cancelled on their end. Prior to that I had ordered quite a bit from them. Now it has left a bad taste so I tend to not pay too much attention to them which is a shame as I like what they offer.

    1. Sorry that happened, but since your card was compromised and the order never went through I don't think that is Joss & Main's fault. Mine had gone through and I'm just glad they still had one of these available to be sent out or I would not have gotten it. They do have some good deals that would be hard to pass up because of a mistake that wasn't there fault.

  9. What a fun picture that certainly brings back memories for you.

I have been hit by seagulls multiple times on lunch duty at school, but I don't even want to think about a pelican dropping on me.

  17. An old Southern saying "If you get pooped on by a bird and don't get mad, it will bring you good luck". Sometime it's hard not to get mad. Love the picture and hopefully he will bring you loads of GOOD LUCK.
    Have a great week.

  20. I really like the pelican! My mother used to talk about being a child waiting on the school bus to pick her up and a buzzard went on the top of her head. Can you imagine?

  22. Don't things with stories behind them make the best additions to our houses? What a beautiful reminder of a bizarre event. I imagine all of you who went on the girls' trip continue to talk about, "remember the time the pelican pooped on Kim," and everybody falls over laughing NOW.

A Joss and Main story... I ordered some beautiful blue (of course, blue) etched stemware. When the carefully wrapped package arrived, one of the four stems had a tiny glass bubble right on the rim. Not broken yet, but certainly would after use. I called Joss and Main. They promptly sent me another set of 4 glasses because these were only sold in sets of four and told me to enjoy the three unblemished glasses on them. Now, that is customer service.

  23. Such a cool piece Kim! Funny story about the bird. That happened to Alex once at Disney when he was little. He was being a real little pest and whiny over something, and the next thing we knew a bird came and pooped on his head and it dripped down his face. Mike and I being the nice parents we are bursted out into hysteria. Alex snapped out of his whiny state after that LOL!
