Simple Changes....first fall vignette

9.06.2014

I love this time of year when my grocery store starts selling sunflowers. I picked up three bunches the other day and placed them in the old enamelware pitcher in place of the dried lavender on the breakfast room farm table.

I had already placed apples in this wooden bowl I purchased from Decor Steals. I had one sunflower that was broken when I got home so I just added the flower to a small glass vase.

Everything else was already here. The apples replaced lemons and the sunflowers replaced lavender.

Just a couple of changes and it has gone from summer to a fall vignette.

So that is my first fall vignette and soon I will be joining five more fabulous bloggers to share our front porches decked out for fall. Oh, yea, I have a stoop. Hmmm, I don't have a clue how I am going to decorate it this year. I better get with it though since we are all sharing on September 22nd and the best part.... you can join us, too.

Well, the yard is calling me.
I sure hope y'all have a splendid weekend!

    1. French Canvas by Benjamin Moore. I just posted about it recently. I love this color and will eventually have the main area of the house in this color.

  7. If you have a flower with a bent stem you can slide a drinking straw up it to hold it up. I found some great silk sunflowers at michaels this summer & got them out this week and put in a metal pitcher. But I'm not convinced I'm ready for fall yet. Took a glass of tea out to the patio yesterday, oh how I will miss that.

  9. Your dining room sings Fall, Kim. I love the sunflowers and apples.
I, too, have a big vase of sunflowers and a huge bowl of apples on our dining room table.
I smile every time I see them, as they remind of the Fall beauty that follows.
    Thanks so much for sharing!
    Have a great weekend,

  12. A lovely vignette.

It is funny how different the months are around the country. We are still in full summer mode and I have been using fresh sunflowers from the flower stand for months.

It is apple season now though.

  13. What a gorgeous vignette, Kim! I hope to make a day trip to the mountains soon for some fresh, crispy apples. Your photo makes me so anxious to do that. I know you were posting mainly about the vignette today, but I have to say that I adore that lantern light fixture!

I recently rescued a one year old Yorkie and trying to house train him, any tips or suggestions? Your little Bailey is adorable!

    1. Hi Rebecca, gosh Bailey will be 7 next month and I remember all the accidents in the house, but it took just a couple months for her to be trained. All I know is to take them out to the same spot several times a day and then reward with a small treat for a job well done. Good luck!
