Hello friends, I'm Courtney from 12th and White and I am so thrilled to be visiting you here at Savvy Southern Style! I'm honored to be joining Kim on her beautiful blog!
My favorite room in our home is our living/dining room. We have lived in our 50s ranch for just over a year, and the open layout, charming details and hardwood floors sold us on the home. This room is the one I had the strongest "vision" for when we were purchasing furnishings. We went from a tiny 800 square foot apartment to this home, so I was blessed to be able to purchase items specifically for this space, since we simply didn't own much.
My vision was a neutral, sophisticated and comfortable space with vintage touches. I love to create an elegant look on a budget, so our furnishings were all bought from discount stores or on Craigslist.
The built in shelves were blue, and I painted them white to freshen them up. They are constantly changing and evolving. I love finding unique items, whether vintage or new, to display here.
I love mixing vintage finds with new pieces. The chair is from TJ Maxx, but the amazing antique shipping trunk is from one of my favorite vintage stores. It holds my collection of antique trophies.
I like to describe my style as "clean cottage," so to keep all our white furnishings from getting too stuffy, I added a bricklayer coffee table for industrial lines.
This room gets great light from a large window, which we dressed in all white sheer drapes for softness and privacy. I love how the space is so open and airy.
I found our dining set on Craigslist and a friend and I repainted it white. We switched out the existing light fixture for a French-style chandelier and I added ironstone platters, a vintage frame, boxwood wreath, and a trumeau mirror to fill out the wall space.
Right off the dining area is an equally large space that leads to the kitchen, which is perfect for serving. One of my favorite finds ever is this vintage white church pew – I love it!
Across from the pew is our serving buffet, which I found on Craigslist and had painted in Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint.
One of my very favorite things to use in my home is architectural salvage. Old windows, corbels, molding, doors, shutters, etc. are all over our house. I think they add so much character and interest to a space!
Thank you so much to Kim for having me here! I hope you all enjoyed touring our living and dining room! It's always a work in progress, so stop by the blog to see what's new!
Thank you, Courtney for sharing this space with us. I love all your salvage, too.
If 12th and White is new to you I hope you will get comfy and pop on over and tour some more.

I'm off to the Country Living Fair today.
