How I Use Vintage Baskets

10.26.2014

I have had a fondness for baskets probably ever since I got married. When I see a new one at an antique mall or at the fairs I have been attending this year I always check them out. Baskets come a all price points and in many shapes and sizes and can be used in so many ways in home decor.

I love using these French market baskets for so many different things like holding dried hydrangea blooms in the fireplace.....

,,,,,,,or holding a few vintage quilts.

Or you could just set a large French market basket on top of an armoire like I did in our master.

I bought this small basket at the Liberty Festival because it was such a good size.

For now its job is to hold extra rolls of toilet paper, but I'm sure it will be used to hold greens and pine cones for the holidays coming up. I just love the way the handle is made.

This large basket is part of a vignette with French items like demijohns and grain sack pillows and a very old French bench.

This is one of my favorite baskets that I purchased last winter. It is a vintage bulb basket and I am using it to hold pillows at the foot of a guest bed now.

It has held throws in the past to that they are easy to grab on a chilly night.

This was my fall mantel last year using a very old French bread basket.

These baskets are great for storage. The bottom one is an old hamper from Provence and the top basket is an old fishing basket. These are filled with pillow covers and other things.

This basket has been used as a side table in the master bedroom in the past.

Besides being useful they are nice to look at especially stacked.

I have more baskets, but there are a few more ladies who would love for you to see their baskets, too. Just click on the links below.

  13. Oh love all your baskets! There is nothing like a vintage basket with pretty pillows in it. Does miss Bailey chews on them at all? My pups like to chew on my baskets and then leave little trials of shredded wicker everywhere.
