Ten Minute Decorating

1.15.2015

I'm thrilled to be a part of a new series called 10 Minute Decorating where four of us will show you some simple decorating ideas that can be done in ten minutes or less. We will be sharing with you once a month.

I have been a fan of the blog Velvet and Linen since before I started blogging. When I was drooling all over my new Veranda magazine at the photos of their beautiful home, Patina Farm, I loved the vignette on the ottoman using a vintage breadboard. This gave me an idea for a quick and easy vignette in my own home just as soon as I got home since I was riding in the car looking at this.

I did not copy the whole vignette, but got the idea to use one of my vintage breadboards as a base instead of the tray I was using. I love finding new ideas from other bloggers, Pinterst, and magazines. I loved using the TRAY, too, but it's fun to swap things out and make it fresh.

This was so easy to put together and probably took me only five minutes.

Design books, an old leather bound book, and a green leaf dish holding vintage keys creates height and texture.

I had these vintage fern prints and magnifying glass in the previous vignette on the tray and decided to use them again. I collect magnifying glasses and this is one of my faves.

This is another plant I recently bought to bring some life into the house during the winter. It is called Pilea and is from Vietnam. I set it in an ironstone bowl and set that on top of a candleholder for height at this end of the vignette. This plant is doing really well and I hope it keeps doing well. I like how it adds softness to the vignette.

So if you have ten minutes or less you can create a simple vignette.

Happy Thursday!
