It's Time to Add Summer

6.11.2015

It may not be summer officially, but the heat and humidity sure says it is. I have started adding touches of summer here and there inside. I love decorating for summer using coastal things which remind me of many days at the beach growing up. I lived near the coast when I lived on St. Simons Island and then Hollywood, Florida, but when I was eleven we ended up just a few miles northeast of Atlanta and far from the beach.
Today I am sharing touches of summer in the foyer.

I had everything on hand in this vignette except the flowers. When I saw those at Trader Joes they had to come home with me at less than $3 a bunch.

This is the coral I found in Montgomery, Alabama a couple weeks ago.

This is the other larger piece. I love using coral and shells. These add shape and texture.

I have never heard of stock flowers, but that's what these are. They were the cheapest and four small bunches made this big bouquet.

The large demijohn color reminds me of sea glass and I stuck a black sea fan in the neck.

There will be more summer style shared soon in a summer tour that starts next week.
I can't wait to see what the others have to share.

  2. Love your blog! So glad you were in Montgomery and I bet you found your coral at Eastbrook Flea Market. I have a booth on their downstairs level and hope you will stop by when you are here again.

In the meantime, you can see what Saltmarsh Design is about on www.stylishsixtyish.blogspot.com.

    1. No, it wasn't Eastbrook but I did shop there and didn't buy anything there.

    2. I live in Montgomery as well...wish I knew who "bookbabe49" was as I'm in Eastbrook quite a bit. I had a booth there several years ago but when I became my mom's full time caregiver, I had to give it up. Still have a lot of friends who have booths there.
