Backyard Progress

7.14.2015

Last week the backyard got worked on and I am thrilled to say we have grass!

This is what the yard looked like when the makeover began last Wednesday.

This bad boy was delivered and Mr. Savvy could not wait to play on it He loves driving equipment like this. When he sees a big tractor or bulldozer on the back of a truck on the road he says gosh that would be fun to play on.

The bobcat was used to take off the old grass/weeds so we could start with a clean slate.

The pile of dirt and weeds was carried into the wooded area on our property.

The grass left was the only healthy grass left in the backyard. We left it and then the new sod was placed up against it. This saved us money on about two more pallets of sod.

This was a sight for sore eyes. The sod truck arrived last Thursday about an hour late.

This was a beautiful sight. Pallets of sod placed all over the yard.

With some helpful hands laying the sod it was mostly done by Thursday night, but we were two pallets short. They were delivered Friday morning and the yard was finished.
Well, the sod was finished. Now we still have quite a bit of work to do and it will take time. The beds around the edge of the sod will get shaped up and we need a couple truck loads of mulch. In the fall some plants will be added. Just too hot right now to plant anything. We are watering the new sod daily and it has already greened up a lot.
I can't wait till I can mow it for the first time in a few weeks.

Eleven pallets of sod and we have instant lawn.

Stay cool and see y'all tonight for Wow!

  6. So much work! I love the instant gratification of sod, lol - I hate to wait. We live in an area where there are many sod farms and I have to say Wisconsin grown sod is so much greener. I am sure it is our much cooler temps. Looking forward to seeing more of your pretty backyard updates! Jane

  9. You would be sad to see most California lawns. People are forced to just let them die in the drought.

  12. Yes, grass is good! This is the first summer in awhile that our grass isn't crispy by now...because of all the rain we continue to have.
