One of the nice things about being empty nesters is we can basically just pack up and go on a spur of a moment. The only one who I have to take care of is Miss Bailey and she stays at the Pet Smart Hotel. She loves it there.
Last weekend we went on a short trip and I had packed our stuff like I always do. I had our clothes in a small suitcase and our toiletries in a separate bag since we traveled by car. When we fly I pack it all in one suitcase. We also had a couple of shirts on hangers so they wouldn't get wrinkled.
When we arrived at our destination we went to get the luggage out and all that was there was the small toiletries bag and the shirts on hangers. What??????
I had put those in the car and had the suitcase with our clothes in it by the back door for the mister to put in the car.
When we opened the car and I only saw the shirts and the toiletries bag I asked Mr. Savvy where our other bag was? You know, the one with our clothes in it!
He said that he asked me if we were ready to go and I said yes. Yes, we were ready to go, but that didn't mean leave the suitcase that was by the door.
I felt totally off not having my things in that suitcase that I took the time to pack. It all turned out okay though after I bought a new pair of jeans in a shop and a t shirt to sleep in.
Those things helped me get through till we got home and the mister will never forget our luggage again. :)
Have y'all ever left your luggage?
Have y'all ever left your luggage?
Full reveal and info coming soon of the peeks just shared.
Happy Thursday!
Happy Thursday!
Oh no! Well at least you got some new jeans from it!
ReplyDeleteYikes!! That has never happened to me...yet. I tend to check and double check (my ocd kicks in). At least it's a nice excuse to go shopping. :-)

Oh man bummer! At least you scored a new pair of jeans though. I don't think we have forgotten an entire suitcase but our first year as newlyweds we vacationed in Santa Barbara and I didn't pack any underwear for my husband .... luckily he is a humorous guy and was able to laugh it off.

We don't have children but we have one small fur baby and she travels with us. In fact, we leave tomorrow for a few days away - staying in a quaint little cottage with a yard for my baby. She is a good traveler! Nope, have never left our luggage at home but we once left a few hanging items in a hotel and had to drive several miles BACK to get our things. Poor Mr. Savvy.
ReplyDeleteoh man! that has never happened to me.perhaps mr.savvy secretly wanted you to go shopping for some new jeans?
ReplyDeleteHa ha... that would be my dream. Carte blanche to go out and buy all new things! ;-) Glad you enjoyed your trip anyway.
ReplyDeleteYes...the exact same thing happened to me on a trip to Virginia beach for a week. How did hubby forget to put the suitcase in the trunk?! Picked up undies and a couple of sundresses plus swimsuit and toiletries. Survived it, but don't want to do that again! Ha! Sheila
ReplyDeletePoor Mr. Savvy!! That has never happened to us but after reading this Kim I will make sure we double check everything on our upcoming trip LOL!
ReplyDeleteI have forgotten toiletries....yikes...no makeup! Not the clothes though!!! BTW...loving your new bedding!
ReplyDeleteI left my entire makeup bag at home on our recent trip to Palm Springs … except one red lipstick. Luckily Saks was open and I was able to replace my foundation and lip gloss. I realized push come to shove … that was my essentials.
ReplyDeleteYour room looks beautiful my dear! I also had not realized you too, were empty nesters!
All the very best to you!
Tamera
Isn't it funny how we sometimes lack communication!!! NOT!!!
ReplyDeleteCommunication is everything... I too have been married a long time and i always assume we are talking about the same thing! Lately I'm seeing this is not the case and have to clarify like English is his second language. Thankfully we love each other still after all these years and can do it with humor! lol
ReplyDeleteI've forgotten a few things but never a whole suitcase! Yikes! I bet he won't forget again, lol.
ReplyDeleteOoo, pretty. I want to see more! :-)
Yes I ended up on a cruise while my bag with my shoes stayed behind in the hotel. A whole week of captains dinners in flip flops. I also went on a business trip a few years ago and realized I had left my cosmetics bags sitting on the dining room table, that was a costly mistake!
ReplyDeleteOh yes ... more than once ... Our new system now is everyone has to line their suitcases by the door .. Hubby knows he can't start loading until he gets the go ahead from me .. the only time I consider myself "The Boss"! Hope you had a fun get away!
ReplyDeleteNo that has never happend to me yet, but hey is that not truly spur of the moment . You got some new jeans....smiling....buy sister and brother in law have done that he would get off work and say grab a your make up and let's go and they fly to San Fran. And buy her clothes when they got there... The Mr. Was just being romantic.....😊 and thought he told you....
ReplyDeleteCan not wait to see what you bought. The milk can looks sooo cute!!
Have a great day.
Happy to say the only thing I bought were the flowers.
DeleteOh no, Kim! My mom did that once when we were little. Same situation, my dad left the suitcase with her clothes in it by the door. She was so frugal, a depression era baby, she refused to by new clothes! She did however remember her afghan and knitting needles! That she carried in the car herself! Priorities! ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a bummer!!! I would die:) Last year when I went to our girls beach week, I went to my daughters the night before, spent the night and left the next morning. I left my make up bag at my daughters! UGH, had to but ALL new make up, and that's alot:):) Glad thibngs worked out OK for you. I guess for a weekend one pair of jeans and a few shirts works:):)
ReplyDeleteThat's why I leave our bags where we'll trip over them on our way out!! I wouldn't be able to function without my stuff!
ReplyDeleteNever trust a husband to do what you assume he will.
ReplyDeleteA friends husband left her bag at home and they were leaving for their honeymoon in Hawaii. They were young and didn't a lot of money. She bought a bathing suite and sundress and lived in them for 10 days.
ReplyDeletexx,
Sherry
What a lovely look for your room. Good thing you were able to make do and you got a new pair of jeans in the bargain lol. I don't think we have ever forgotten anything major, coats and a few hanging pieces once or twice. On our honeymoon we drove from here (S. Ontario, Canada) to Disney FL in July (right before hurricane Andrew hit -stinking hot!!) We had our luggage in the back of hubby's truck with a borrowed truck cap that ended up leaking and my new navy hanging garment bag got wet and dye ran in one corner. Luckily only a bit was ruined.
ReplyDeleteOh my Kim, that had to be a bit of a bummer. At least you could brush your teeth. That won't happen again I'm sure. Love the pitcher hanging and can't wait to see more

When our girls were young my husband left my luggage on the front walk! We drove to Bethany Beach (three and one half hours) our destination, before anyone realized what happened.I was not a happy camper at the time, but it's funny looking back. Our neighbor had already retrieved it when we called - had to buy a few things until it arrived on the bus the next day!
ReplyDeleteI've forgotten a perfectly warm coat when heading to a cold place - I had it lying on the bed ready to take but I forgot it at the last moment. I bought a replacement at the thrift store for the weekend - I know I'm forgetful, so usually I just shrug and say 'oh well'. I'm also a throw everything in the bag at the last minute and sit on the lid to close it type of person - I have tried so many other methods - this is the one that works for me! My ex husband was a magician - he could take my bulging luggage and rearrange things so there was plenty of room :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely room...and hysterical story!!! The title reminded me how I leave tape measurers at practically every client. At least you got some new jeans!
ReplyDeleteNever left luggage behind, but when I spent a month in France my luggage didn't make it with me....took TWO WEEKS to get it back, and I had to go find something else to wear to a friends wedding, and had to buy new shoes and a slip - was a big inconvenience, but only time anything odd ever happened to me.
ReplyDeleteI will never forget on our last cruise (we cruise often so now have no wait in line so we get on, get washed up and can walk around waiting for disembarkation.) We were looking at the harbor and feeling kinda sorry for all those hundreds still in line and watching the HUGE baggage holder bringing the suitcases into the lower part of the ship to be distributed later to the state rooms.....and in horror watched as five or six fell off into the ocean!!!!!! I cannot even imagine the horror of an entire cruisea without my stuff. Almost all my clothing is tailored to my stature and size, it would be impossible to just grab something off the rack - and, frankly, the cruise boutiques are not my style either. So, yikes. Hubs said he will carry ours next time just in case lol.
Been there done that...but it was my hubby's clothes!...No suits for his appointments...luckily there was a Brooks Brothers on our way to our destination....Love the sneaky peekies! Can't wait to see more!!
ReplyDeleteHa! My husband always says, if you forget something you can always go buy something new. Fortunately that worked out for you. I don't think it's always that easy. ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh Kim I am laughing right now. I can imagine just what that conversation was like when you realized there was no suitcase!;) Love the guest bedroom by the way.
ReplyDeleteHahaha! Yes , I have had this experience. Years ago when my son was little and I was still married to The Sperm Donor, we were headed off to Asheville, NC from another town in NC for what was an important business meeting for him for a few days. We were halfway there when I said, "Did you remember to get the hanging bag off the bed?" The look on his face said it all. He obviously hadn't. He sighed, turned around, and we went back and got it. He asked "Don't you have anything else to wear in the suitcase?" "Yes, underwear and gowns and makeup!!!" He was far too big a cheapskate to have bought me new clothes. This was probably about the nicest thing I can say about the man.
ReplyDeleteKim that is so funny!
ReplyDeleteMarcy
Oh my gosh yes. My husband did the same thing and left my son's duffle bag at the top of the stairs before leaving for a beach trip when my son was little. He ended up getting a whole new beach wardrobe. We hit the local beach store and stocked up on T-shirts and flip flops and shorts. It all worked out and we always do a bag check before leaving the house whenever we go out of town now.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
"The difference between and ordeal and an adventure is your attitude".
ReplyDeleteYour attitude definitely saved the day!
Oh my...I think I would've flipped! LOL! Anxious to hear all about this trip:) Something tells me you landed some goodies... :)
ReplyDeleteI recently dragged a LARGE suitcase all over Nova Scotia and Canada and about now am wishing I had forgotten my suitcase. On a brighter note, Nova Scotia and All parts of Canada is a wonderful place to visit.
ReplyDeleteCan you tell me where you got your bedding? Or is it custom? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteMarissa, there was another post after this one with the details. It is sold at Bed Bath Beyond and is the Lady Antebellum collection. Thanks
