Mad For Plaid and More in the Sun Room

10.19.2015

I hope y'all had a good weekend. Ours was so good with the most glorious fall weather. We had a cold front move in and the skies were the prettiest blue with the perfect crisp cool air. We worked on replacing our front door handle that broke and now I am having to paint the door since the new knob was a different size. It's always something. We also celebrated Leila's fifth birthday at an outside fall carnival yesterday. My grands are all growing up way too quickly!

I went to HomeGoods the other day just to look around and I just happened upon the pillows aisle and bam, there was a pair of plaid pillows that I just had to have. If you ever need pillows with nice down inserts for a great price just go to HomeGoods and I'm not paid to say this.

I knew the plaid pillows would be perfect in my sun room. They add a punch of blue and work well with the other fabrics and patterns in the room. They are by Ralph Lauren.

I have a lot of different patterns in here, but they all work together. A lot of people are afraid of mixing patterns, but it has always come naturally to me. I added this vintage quilt from my collection and it is the perfect color in here and will be nice for those chilly nights that we are already experiencing.

There are stripes, checks, plaid, florals, zig zags and they all work together.

This pillow was in the farm house style guest room.

Ah, ticking and plaid two of my favorites. The plaid pillows have a small red stripe that makes them work in here. If they had not had red in them to go with the rest of the red in this room I would not have used them. The common color makes them work plus they go with the other grays and blacks in the room.

The white knit pillow is old. The only thing new in here are the plaid pillows. I shopped the house for the rest. Oh, and the slipcover on the Pottery Barn basic sofa is new, too. The color is called stone and looked more gray on Pottery Barn's site, but when it came it is more khaki, but still works. I got it while it was on sale plus free shipping. Of course it still cost a mere fortune for a slipcover, but should last for years. I had the original white one forever.

Did you notice that I brought this black rug back out? I like to layer rugs in the cooler seasons. Layer your rugs like you do your clothes to add warmth.

I swapped out the art work over the chest again. Ugly bird has been removed.

The white lamp was on top of the chest that holds the television, but I moved it to the end table.

I placed the ivy in a large copper pot on top of the baskets.

Plaid is certainly on trend right now and I have always loved plaid so I'm glad I found the perfect plaid for the sun room.

Have an awesome week!

See the way the sun room looked before here.

  8. Your sunroom is beautiful....love the new pillows and sofa slipcover! I love the look of layered rugs but when I tried it in my own home I tripped over them like 20 times in one day and was afraid I was going to kill myself so I had to give up on the idea.

  22. Beautiful! Love those wonderful plaid pillows! And I know they are a good quality if they are Ralph Lauren (not like a lot of the plaids that are out these days.) Our Homegoods has not stocked those blue ones yet. I will keep an eye out for them!
