Playing House

10.04.2015

I love a pretty bed. Maybe you have noticed that. Changing the bedding is such an easy way to change the feel of a room. I mostly just change the pillows and the duvet or quilt that I place at the end of the bed. It's what Mr. Savvy calls playing house when I switch things up. After taking the Lady Antebellum bedding off the other guest room bed I decided to use the standard shams from that bedding set in this guest room. The good thing about having neutral walls and carpet means I can switch things from one room to the next and play house.

I have more blue in this room than any other and I love using the blue shams in here for now. I added the blue striped grainsack pillows and the little grainsack pillow in the front.

I hung this cow artwork in here over the table by the bed.

I was using this figurine in the master bath, but for now it sits on this nightstand.

I draped a blue striped grain sack over the back of this chair and added the vintage French ticking pillow.

And here is the only fall addition.

Do you like to play house, too? I know some of you do.

Have an awesome week!

  1. Funny you should ask! I play house all of the time too. But not just with bed linens...I move stuff all over the place on a whim. Then later I may move it back so that I can put something else there. It is a constant shuffle of this and that. But for me...it's fun. AND...let's not forget about the exercise we can get "playing house." ha!
    Have a great week.

Everything you've done in that room is wonderful. You have such a nice collection of linens to play with.

  9. Just gorgeous as always!! It's so much fun to move things around for a new look. You are the queen of the "shuffle". Beautiful blues! What a great idea to use a grainsack on a chair. I'm borrowing that idea for my one guest room! Thanks!

    1. Beth, first let me say that I am a fan of your blog and style. I read it everyday and Oscar is so handsome. I am a few years older than you and love to dress stylishly, too. So I love home decor and fashion, too. To answer your question I use a lot of Pottery Barn bedding. The white quilt and shams are PB and the sheets most likely are, too. I live not too far from a PB outlet which can be good and bad. I also shop HomeGoods, the Restoration Hardware outlet, and have some bedding I ordered from on line shops. I am a nut about bedding. Thanks so much for stopping by!

  25. My bedroom is an awful mess after the renovation. I was thinking to paint the walls blue, but I'll keep your advice in mind and keep it very neutral so I can change the bedding whenever I want!
