The Unexpected

I didn't have any intention of changing things around in the dining room, but recently I was offered some new art work from minted.com. I chose a couple of framed prints and they arrived quickly and nicely packaged. The one I originally purchased for the dining room ended up in one of the guest rooms and the one for the guest room is in the dining room.Yea, that's the way things go around here. This picture isn't exactly what you would expect me to hang in here, but I like the unexpected in decor.

Isn't it cute? I chose the blue barn wood frame even though it looks black in the photos. There are a variety of frames to choose from.

I had intended on this to hang in the farmhouse style guest room since it is a dog in an old truck, but it just looks better to me in here. I also switched this chest and the armoire around. I used to have this chest on this side years ago and had switched them for a new look and now they switched again.

I like the amoire on this side. Ignore the set table. I'm practicing for Thanksgiving. :)

The two finials are there temporarily. They go back on the table when it isn't dressed for the holidays.

I moved the little brass lamp in here that was in the foyer and have added a different lamp in the foyer. It was time for a change.

I picked up this moss plant at the store several weeks ago and it is doing so well. I had not seen planted moss for sale like this before, but it is very easy to take care of and I really don't have a green thumb. I tucked it in an old ironstone dish.

The EAT sign in the picture just seems to work in the dining room don't you think?

I placed some of my demijohns on top of the armoire in stead of the basket I had up there.

If you are in the market for some new art for your home or maybe a gift you will not be disappointed with minted.com. They have a huge selection and you can choose framed or not and they ship quickly.

I'll share the other print soon that was intended for this spot.

I was offered product to share with you and all opinions are my own. You can read my full disclosure policy here.

  9. Love that picture. Switching out the basket on the armoire was a great idea- the demijohns pick up the color of the truck.

  17. That dresser/chest/whatever it is absolutely awesome! Did you paint it yourself? Is it original or new made to look old? I haven’t seen a piece like this in a long time. There are so many distressed pieces out there these days, but this is definitely in a league of its own.

    1. It is actually a buffet. The top opens and becomes a serving piece. I did paint it myself with Annie Sloan chalk paint. In fact more than once and that is why it has layers. Thanks so much!
